TeemuL: And here's Matt with his third post of the day, just before my bedtime. But since my bedtimes are flexible, I'll go through this. That's quite a lot of minis, Matt! It would be nice to see them all together in a group shot, byt maybe you are saving it for the final post after the Challenge? I'll go through the Maths tomorrow morning, it is too complicated with the phone. But you will get your points, Martin too.

From MartinC: thank you Teemu (187 points)

This is my last post with Teemu as my minion. He has been great, generous, good at maths and full of Finnish history.  Cheers mare, have a banana.

My Zulu war force is nearing completion, me and Dave fought Isandlwana today to test the rules. The Zulus one but enough british survived to form a square.

A battalion of 3rd foot, the Buffs, with a company of Royal Engineers at the front

Newcastle mounted rifles, Alexandra mounted rifles, Natal Hussars

7 troops of Boers with their dynamic commander Redvers Buller

4 battalion commanders

7 assorted heroes

6 7lb field guns

Rhino, for officers to run off and hunt

Same for loads of water buffalo

Hopefully next week I will have finished the whole army

Scores on the doors

69 x 10mm foot = 69
21 x 10mm cavalry 63
6 artillery and crew = 36
19 animals = 19

TeemuL: Thank you very much, Martin! I don't think I've been called a "mare" before, I take it as a compliment. According to my dictionary, it means either a female horse, a sea in context of planets or a nightmare in British spoken language. I take it as the last one, coming from a British gentleman with British humour. I'll overlook all possibilities of typos. Anyway, that's a nice amount of Brits to fight the hordes of Zulu. Keep them coming, I heard Zulus are gathering!

From MattW: Red Tail down (20 points)

 Red Tail Down

I built this old Frog P51 kit from with an intention of adding it to my 1944 collection, however the quality was lacking so I built it as a crashed model. I happened to be watching Red Tails so I thought I would paint it as a red tail.

TeemuL: It takes some courage to make a crashed plane from an intact one, but it pays off. Especially if the model is not perfect quality. And as this is a painting challenge, we don't really care if the models are flying or crashing or where they come from, we focus on the brushwork. I find paiting planes quite tricky, the coat of paint needs to be thin and even, but still have a good coverage, otherwise it doesn't look real. Based on your work, I guess this P51 just came from the factory, was painted and failed the lift off, because it looks so smooth.

I'll use my minion powers and grant you 5 bonus points, planes are often larger than the most common vehicles of the same scale, so it makes sense.

From GrahameH: 15mm Almoravid Legio Heroica Figures (248 points)

Just a small post this week using up some Legio Heroica 15mm Muslims. I have a Muslim Crusader period army so these were left over from that.

I am hoping to use the Muslim Crusader Army as the Muslim armies in Spain as they are fairly generic. However, apart from the Mamelukes, I have painted the outstanding figures as Muslims more specific to Spain.

There are six cavalry units, each of 9 mounted figures and one unit of infantry, 16 figures.

Mamelukes (36pts)

Berber Cavalry (36pts)

More Berber Cavalry (36pts)

Andalusian Cavalry (36pts)

Another Andalusian Cavalry (36pts)

Yusef ibn Tashfins Hasham Guard Cavalry (36pts)

Yusef ibn Tashfins Black Guard (32pts)

I am about a third of the way through another army, but I'm not sure I'll get it finished before the end of the challenge, as I am away most of next week, but I will try and post what is done before I go.

Total Points this entry = 248pts

TeemuL: How many armies have you painted during this challenge, Grahame? This is a pretty one, once again. The strong blues especially contrasts nicely on the arid bases, which look very real to me by the way. Looking forward the next week what you have managed to finish!

From MattW: Belgian Armour (75 points)

 Belgian Armour

Painting has moved at a snail pace this week as I have been renovating on the top floor again, laying tiles in a new bathroom and painting 1/1 scale. I did manage to get these done though yesterday though. Infantry battalion and chasseur battalion not far behind, along with all of my airborne infantry and should be completed by next week at the end of the challenge. Really happy with the resin Retrotracks 1/72 T13 kits . I do need to source crew from EWM for the T13s again they have hand painted markings,. The Vickers is a FAA model  as is the crewman.

T13 two for my Cyclist Frontier

T13 B two for my chasseur ardennais

Vickers tractor “Eliza” for my infantry (red collar tabs)

20mm vehicles @ 15 points x 5

Cheers
Matt

TeemuL: Wonderful work on these rarely seen beauties! They might be "just dark green", but there are lots of details you have picked up and the pretty backdrops add to the value. I guess the T13s will see more action, but Eliza tractor is my favourite. That's 75 points to you!

P.S. Grahame is next in line, and if everything is paired today, then I guess we will get some 20mm or Belgian units today. Stay tuned! :)
