From RaulM - AHPC XV Wrap up

I had a blast joining the challenge for the first time, it was a great source of motivation! I've loved posting and getting great comments from everyone, and I've spent hours just browsing through and admiring everyone's amazing work. I knocked out a ton of 1/700 scale sailing ships from the Black Seas range, and here they all are together for the first time.

While that photo is great and all, it was a great time to squeeze in some glamor shots. So here we go, for each nation:

The United States Navy

The Royal Navy

The Spanish

The French

Constellation vs a Barbay Xebec

Again, this was an amazing time. Big thanks to Paul for reviewing all of my posts and for all of the generous extra points. It helped me reach the goal I set out the beginning of 200 points, and I was even able to get a few points more and ended up with 235. I'll see all of you in next year's challenge, but in the meantime, I do post all of work to my blog, The Space Dinosaur Miniatures, if anyone wants to continue seeing my Black Seas and other games work.

See everyone then!

From AdamW - Oh, just one more thing......

As a newb here I didn't realise that a 'wrap up' post was the done thing, but it seems nice to look back at all that was achieved and the fun that was had.

As it was my first challenge I had no idea what target to set. I had hoped to get lots done but knew that life may get in the way, so I went for 600, double the suggested 300 points. In the end I did over 2000 so clearly underestimated. At least I have a better idea for next year.

I did manage to get a couple of reasonable sized projects done and some odd bits, and managed to get all the circles/spheres of the Dante side challenge done.

So here is a round up (all 15mm).

Limbo - Lots of limbers

Lust - Viking Pillagers

Gluttony - Hungry Tiger, crawling soldier.

Greed - Viking collectors

Wrath - woman scorned

Heresy - privates on parade

Violence - Boers

Fraud - HMS Firefly and friend (China gunboats on the Tigris)

HMS Espiegle, tagged onto the Firefly job.

Treachery - Captured armour fighting for the enemy

The Inconstant - Chinese rocker battery...where they stop nobody knows.

The Ambitious - Stick and stones unit

The Lovers - music loving medieval band, 'The Fool Fighters'

The Wise - ACW generals coming up with a cunning plan.

Warriors of Faith - monks ready to crack some heads.

The Just Rulers - Samurai command enclosures

The contemplatives - The error of his ways

Faith, hope and love - Master, servant and hound

The Angels - Nuns on the run

As well as all 18 of the circles/spheres I squeezed in a couple of other bits and bobs.

A few Russian armoured cars

A couple of small gunboats

A unit of Chinese pirates

A handful of junks

Well, that was the winter that was.  Hope you all had fun, and hope to see you all again next year.

As a passing shot, here is a link to our groups Facebook page, where we post pics of some of the games we play. Very Bad Wargamers Group

From BruceR - Wrap Up Challenge XV

I still feel new to the challenge, and this was another good one.  I surpassed my goal (being retired might have helped).

I want to tip my hat to all as the positivity and others hobby really helps keep the juices flowing.  We are experiencing troubling times and this hobby helps grind through the crap.

So here is my wrap up photo.  Ancients, WW2, ACW, Fantasy.  Next year I'm joining the squirrel dual.

Thanks again to minions, Curt and Sarah.

Cheers all.

Bruce

From DallasE: Challenge XV in the Rear-View Mirror

Well there's another Challenge in the books. Didn't make my points target (what else is new) but did get a good chunk of one new army done and started another one too.

Here's the production over the 13 weeks of the Challenge. Mostly 28mm WW2 Soviets and 15mm Yom Kippur War Israelis with a couple other randoms chucked in.

Here's some - Belisarius Cawl from the 40K AdMech and some 3D-printed servoskulls - those are fun.

Some of the Bolt Action WW2 Soviets. This was a new project started during the Challenge (well, I guess I'd painted a 1/56 KV-1 from the Bolt Action winter Soviets box, but I'd not started any of the infantry). I'm happy with the progress and unbelievably, we've already had a Continuation War game with them!

Here's the 40 plastic infantry I painted, with some trucks in the background.

Here's the other major project I started - Israeli opponents for my 1973 Egyptians. These are Magach-6s and Zelda M113 APCs. Still have to pick up the infantry and a few M51 Shermans I ordered from Khurasan.

So here's the rundown:

40mm infantry: 7
28mm vehicles: 13
28mm infantry: 67
15mm vehicles: 9
15mm infantry: 6

Thanks to my minion Paul and to Curt and Sarah for putting on the show. It's always a great spur to get stuff painted and I look forward to next year's edition. See you at the afterparty.

From Kerry T - All on the table - AHPC XV round up

 Morning, afternoon & evening all

Its been a more relaxed week this week because I haven't frantically been trying to get things on the table and though I've still had the brushes out, they're working at a more leisurely pace. I'm certainly not missing the rushed weekly basing sessions and am looking forward to returning to my habit of basing en masse when I run out of room on the desktop!

First things first and most importantly a big thank you to Curt & Sarah for organising the challenge once again and allowing me to take part in this, my fourth challenge. What a fantastic concept this is and I so wish I had discovered it years ago. I'm envious of those of you who've been in all the way through. Secondly a huge thank you to the minions, especially the awesome articulate Aussie Millsy for his diligence and kindness in minioning my work and coordinating our twice weekly chats where as many as 5 or 6 of us down-underers have chewed the fat. It has really added something special this year. Last but not least, my fellow challengers for their unwavering support and encouragement. Very many thanks to you all, the camaraderie is fantastic, its what makes the challenge

I set myself a target of 2,500 points with the aim of reaching 10,000 career points and am pleased to say I made it and though my score was higher with bonuses I actually managed to knock off 2,500 points worth of figures.

The completed host with 2 extras!

I'm embarrassed to confess that I dropped a clanger this year at the end and miscalculated the time that the challenge finished here in NZ. Rushing home late on Thursday night I thought I had a few hours left and put up a post only to have missed the deadline! Curt there's a draft post sitting in the queue which needs to be deleted please. If only I'd tried to tackle 6 not twelve hobilars I would have finished in plenty of time!

Here they are -zero points but they want their moment of fame!

See the red thing in the distance not quite finished, I needed another 20 minutes - sniff!

I just had to dry brush its spines and claws - another sniff!

I've always used the challenge to beef up my Italian Wars collection. No Gendarmes this year but some Landsknecht pike, characters, command and artillery. The intended Milanese units got bumped down the queue
The Emperor Maximillian

Warlord Games looters

Foundry big guns

Artizan pike to complete an already painted pike block

Over the Christmas holiday I painted up a load of horses and quietly drove myself bonkers churning out cavalry in the early part of the challenge but I put a big dent in the ECW leadpile

A mix of Empress and Bicorne horse

I should get around to playing FKP rules now

The other main theme for me this year having bought a resin printer, was printing, prepping and painting some of Medbury Miniatures STLs for the Scottish wars of Independence and 100YW

Victrix knights with LBSM transfers

Medbury Miniatures, Footsore and Antediluvian Scottish pike /spear here

Then there were a few other odds and ends along the way

Little man with a big banner

Artizan Black Guard Moorish infantry and horse

Finally TAG Polish Hussars because I'm a butterfly

With very many thanks for your encouragement and support again this year, I've had a great time and hope to see you next year again
