Me, Oscar (on my left, with one eye peeking out), and Felix overseeing my Challenge IX output. |
While I was caught up with a lot of boring real-life stuff this Challenge, I did manage to get a surprising amount completed. Well, 'a surprising amount' to my workmanlike standards, but nothing compared to the titans of the points roster.
Not bad. I'm particularly proud of that 1:1 scale half-filled wine glass... |
Nonetheless, I was delighted to (barely) achieve my 1200 point target and to have stuck to my guns in being completely all over the place in topics. I think my 'Squirrel Tally' indicates around 15 different periods/genres/scales over my 21 entries, which I found to be satisfyingly schizophrenic.
The funny byproduct to this whackadoodle approach is that I currently have about a dozen entries at some level of completion, which should give me something to work on over the coming months. Bonus! :)
It was a terrific Challenge, and while I'm happy to have a few months break, I look forward to putting my shoulder to the wheel for Challenge X next winter.
In the meantime, I'll catch up with you all on March 31st for our glitzy award show.
See you then!

A great haul Curt!
ReplyDeleteAn excellent output Curt, both in quantity and quality :)
ReplyDeleteA most impressive set of output. I am a little suspicious though after seeing the rather ample glass of wine Felix seems to be drinking with our sharing with Oscar. I think a call to PETA may be in order
ReplyDeleteYour painting is always an inspiration to me and I hope to one day have 10% of your skills
As the Resident Barista, I can attest to the fact that Curt’s painting output is indeed fueled by caffeine, Flat Whites to be exact.
DeleteHowever, the mad, mad plotting and even the administrative aspect of this Challenge is definitely wine fueled, a nice Rioja anyone?
The two household minions, Oscar and Felix, are purely motivated by dog treats and now that the Challenge is over ... Felix has begun plotting household domination!!
Consistently high quality painting over a wide range and a big haul of figures, the dogs look happy!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
They refused to be left out of the shot! Truly gloryhounds. :)
DeleteA wonderful body of work and something to be proud of. How much of this lot was Booze powered? Personally I run on caffeine when painting but I guess that could be substituted by wine...not sure I'd get as much painted but I bet its a lot more fun!
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm with you Lee on being mostly coffee powered. The plonk was my victory lap treat. :)
DeleteFantastic work and great wrap up!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how to participate in the next edition?
Thanks Mark. Keep an eye open around November 20th as that's when I make the announcement and start reserving spots.
DeleteA fantastic mix of minis, genres and scales. Thank you for organizing this amazing event and congratulations on hitting your target. Fellowship seems like a great title for this event, you have certainly inspired a lot of people to get together and participate.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stuart, I'm delighted how it all came off this year, but to be honest I have very little to do with it, it's the quality of the group that makes it work.
DeleteThat's a proper output, and one which would put the most diligent painters in the shade!
ReplyDeleteThanks again, Curt, for organising the Challenge for yet another year!
Thanks Ev and thanks again for pitching in to be our Wednesday Minion.
DeleteGood work, great quality! Thanks for running this again!
ReplyDeleteThanks Barks! A part of why I could get this done if having you wonderful chaps take care of the weekly entries. Thank you!
DeleteAnother cracking season come to a close and the Snowlord is still smiling despite the burdens behind the scenes, so all is indeed well in the world! Another brace of fantastic submissions this year - hard to pick a favourite but your Titan "Crucible of Terra" would take some beating I think!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for another wonderful year of AHPC. It has become so normalised here that my 'Home Fleet Admiral' even schedules in 'Challenge time' in our social calendar and asks me what my submissions are each week. Thank you Lady Sarah for enabling Curt to run this event at the expense of your own time together.
PS Australia is the capital of Flat Whites - I look forward to one day introducing you both to some of them, as well as some local refills of the 1:1 scale glass :-)
Thank you Paul for the kind words and for your sterling efforts as our Duels Wallah this year. Terrific job mate. I look forward to enjoying some libations with you in your fine country in a coming year.
DeleteSuper collection of finished figures Curt. Thanks again for running the Challenge and hope to be here again for next year 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks Ken. I look forward to see you in the ranks for the next Challenge.
DeleteExcellent work. Thanks for hosting another excellent challenge. Cheers
ReplyDeleteThanks Brendon!
DeleteA brilliant wrap-up, Curt - though I'm glad you identified which of the culprits in the pic was Oscar - at first glance, I got it wrong. Thanks a million for letting me in to Challenge IX - it's been magnificent, and of huge personal benefit to me. I'm not sure how I'll fill the nine month hiatus, but I know that a big part of it will be planning for Challenge X. The Big One!
ReplyDeleteDelighted you had a good time Noel - you were hitting it out of the park with your entries. Thanks again.
DeleteYou've done great both in quality and quantity! And all that while keeping a herd of nerdy painters in line. As always I tip my hat to you (and of course Lady Sarah).
ReplyDeleteAs always I've been going back to your entries more than once as they're always full of inspiration and ingenuity. Keep it up my friend!
Thanks Nick, you're very kind.
DeleteAwesome group shot Curt! As always really enjoyed all your lovely entries!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Thanks very much Christopher.
