More trucks for the Truck God! That doesn't sound very awe-inspiring, does it? So far, the models I present to this Challenge are somewhat boring. It's because that most of the "exciting" miniatures in the collection I inherited are already painted and what I have left to paint are unfinished projects like trucks. But let's rejoice, this is the last bunch of trucks for my early WW2 French army! Although there will be a few Polish trucks down the road...
First, 20 Laffly W15T trucks that were used, among other roles, as prime movers for anti-tank guns and carriers for support weapons. All the models are from GHQ and the details are excellent.
On a Laffly, the servants of support weapons would sit in the middle of the vehicle, surrounded by the ammo. Like many of the French equipment of 1940, these trucks would eventually be captured and pressed into service in the German army
Next is a unit of French reconnaissance motorcycles. The Company HQ includes a small van that carries a radio. All models are from GHQ except the van, which is from Heroics & Ros.
These units are very tiny (6mm long), but motorcycles played an essential reconnaissance role in armies of the 1930's. This unit consists of 3 patrols of 3 elements. For points, I think its fair to consider them as cavalry instead of vehicles.
Points claimed:
10 motorcycles (counted as cavalry) at 1 point each = 10 points21 vehicles at 2 points each = 42 points
Total = 52 points
This will also count towards the "Really Little Guys" duel.
Thanks for reading!
Great work here Sylvain, if you can pick out detail on these tiny models your eyes are better than mine! But admittedly, the scale is great for gaming larger actions, it looks a lot more "realistic" having vehicles spread out over the battlefield rather than axle-to-axle like sometimes happens in 28mm (or even 15mm!) games. Well done on the painting and 52 points added to your score!

You painted good details for such tiny scale, amazing
ReplyDeleteI’m sure that the trucks gods are pleased with your offerings. Lovely little vignettes that you create, but this scale is well beyond my eyesight’s capabilities. I like the term servants of the support weapons, but wouldn’t feel comfy sitting amidst all that ammo.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work, Sylvain! The Truck God will be very pleased indeed. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat work Sylvain, I'm amazed that tufts also work so well when basing such small figures
ReplyDeleteSpot on with these tiny dudes 👍
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff again, love the motorcycles and they go well together with the van. Well done!!
ReplyDeleteGreat tiny project Sylvain. They will look magnificent on the table.
ReplyDeleteIncredible how you have made this work so well Sylvain, truly inspiring if a bit small ;-P
ReplyDeleteGood stuff on such a small minis, Sylvain!
ReplyDeleteoh boy more tiny minis, they look so good.
ReplyDeleteLogistics and recon are very important!
ReplyDeleteWell done Sylvain. I share your views on things like trucks and transport, but when you play games like "Spearhead" they become particularly essential! Nice work getting these finished off.
ReplyDeleteTrucks got have some love too. Nicely done Sylvian.
ReplyDeleteTrucks for the truck throne! Very satisfying to see, well done
