From DaveD: Zulus, many of them (355 points)

The journey from ingot to Impi continues. I am now about 2/3rds of the way to the 1000 Zulus . I cast these lads up toward the end of last year ready for this project and it good to see them moving along .

Here we have 4 newly raised regiments .

The uVe “Flycatchers” the 3rd and last for the Left Horn - at around 2000 strong it has 106 figures

The “Black Mamba’s “ at around 1500 have 87 figures .

The Dust Raisers at around 1500 men has 85 figurees

The Leopards Lair at around 1000 men has 62 figures

Pleased with this little lot
Oh and here is them starting life

Bare metal in 1.5kg ingots

Zulu moulds - ZC5 and ZC8 …

Next are the Zulu command which are by Steve Barber

Cetshawyo on horse and various senior commanders .

Another  command stands for a Zulu Prince

1 mound of wounded Zulus - contains 3 casualties.

Points :-

350 10mm Foot

1 10mm mounted

3 prone

Total 355

And to the colonial duel …

Martin C and I have a game today to run through the home brew rules that need some tweaked for the this period.

TeemuL: Yes, I won't count those individually and I trust your maths, 355 points it is, cruising you well over 2000 points! They look beautiful as a huge group, very nice. Almost a nice photo from "the beginning" of those models, most of us see just the plastic bags or cartoon boxes as a starting point, but you have a longer history with these ones. Good reminder to all of us.

I hope all the best for you and MartinC in your games, may there be plenty!

  1. I'm not gonna lower myself in mentioning the Black Mamba, but I'm pretty sure that's a 70's porno I watched in the 80's?

    Excellent brushwork though Dave!

  2. More excellent work Dave -- sorry if I missed this previously but wht is the difference in the basing of each regiment with its mix of double width, single width and large square? Does this enable particular formations?

    1. Hi one base is 30x30 counts as 1 , 60x30 is 2 , 60x60 is 4. It means I can take any combination of casualties off without markers . And it allows for the formation shape , wider than deep

    2. And regiments are various stands to repent overall size .at approximately 1/20 . Range of sizes 1900/1500/2500/4900 so more stands for larger units

  3. Growing into a very impressive force. The fact you cast your own army is very cool.
