From DaveD - Sudan - York and Lancs (120 Points)

The last main infantry battalion for the target OOB of "El Teb" - these are the Perry Miniatures India Service dress wearing York and Lancs battalion. Overall a pretty simple unit as they don't have the amount of webbing, back pack, pugarees etc that the other units have - and are a nice simple khaki!

24 Figures altogether - and again these were a complete swine to clean up!

I have to say these were a real joy .. and incredibly simple to complete. I was also really taken with the facial detail of these with variations and some fine grizzled veterans.

So here is the display of Imperial power - with the Foot and artillery all out together - erm I think I need to get some more Mahdists....Mmmwaahaahaa!

Next for the imperials are some more skirmish stands, and the next formed bodies of foot should be the Naval Brigade close protection units.

My new soldering iron has arrived today so the conversion work on the 10th Hussars looms.

And with two decent sized units in the week maybe Mr Mills will need some of this - although rumours from the Antipodes have it he's got something random left field of paint mountain, made up papier mache, dollar store conversions tucked up his sleeve - not just his "armies".

From Curt:

And Dave cracks the 2K barrier on day 46!!

Nice one Mr. Docherty.

No doubt about it, that is a big mob of khaki and bayonets! (I really like the bareheaded fellows that are interspersed amongst the unit.)

AND that final group shot is off the hook - gobsmacking stuff!

I look forward to seeing the 10th Hussars gallop on the field in the coming weeks (and please be careful with that new soldering iron Tex)!

Nevertheless, I'm sure the intrepid Mr. Mills will have something to both say and do about this in the coming days...

    2. Well, you'd better buy some more then! We can't have you succumbing to the infamous law of miniature painters - "paint the last mini, die" :)

By Jingo that's a massive display of imperial might! Well done. I'm a little confused, you say the figures were a pain at one point and a joy at another. I take it that there was flash trimming required but once that was over, they paint up well? Regardless the end result is superb!
    Cheers

  10. The York and Lancs look great! I like the mix of barehead and old dogs among them. The group shot is astounding! Really impressive group!
I feel your pain on the cleanup as I've just finished a group where I missed some flashing during prep and had to remove it while painting them! That irritates me more than just removing the flash in the prep stage! ;)
