A bit of a mixed submission here - a handful of support Fallschirmjager in 28mm and 4 1/600 scale ACW ships.
The Fallschirmjager's are painted with the same Mediterranean camo as my previous submission and round out the last of my 28mm German stuff in the "lead mountain".
Included is a Medic (who isn't really that blurry in real life, a 81mm Mortar team and a machine gun team.
There's also a Pak 40 (75mm) AT gun and crew. The AT gun and crew are from Warlord. I did pick up some ground tufts from Tajima1 Miniatures. I'm trying to spice up my base scenics and am very pleased with the Tajima products.
Another 4 1/600 scale ACW ships. All of the models are from Thoroughbred Miniatures. There are three general transports and the double turreted US Monitor Milwaukee.
From Curt:
An excellent and varied entry once again Miles.
That PAK is brilliant and an absolute terror for early Allied armour in North Africa.
I agree, the product and service from Tajima is excellent (and very economical if you purchase in quantity). I agree, they do add that something extra to your AT gun and support weapons.
Your 1/600 ships look terrific (as usual). My only suggestion would be to add another highlight on the grey armour edges of the monitor as that colour has a tendency to suck up light and make their subjects look inordinately flat.
Finally, congratulations on blasting through your second points target Miles - well done young man!
Welcome to the Painting Challenge. Here you will find the fabulous, fevered work of miniature painters from around the world. While participants come from every ethnicity, gender, age and nationality, they have three things in common: they love miniatures, they enjoy a supportive community, and they want to set themselves against the Challenge. This site features the current year's event along with the archives of past Painting Challenges. Enjoy your visit and remember to come back soon.

Great looking ships but those Para's do it for me again.
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for Tajima1, I have 10 of their boxes in use at the moment having just restocked, though I need to get two more boxes LOL
Ian
We placed an order for another 15 boxes just a few days ago! The Challenge really burns them up :-)
DeleteExcellent FJ supports Miles and great ironclads :)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. I also love the Tajima stuff, really well made and very prompt
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful DAK entry Miles. I really like you basing colour. What is it? I spy some of the new Tajima desert elements on there too. Looks like I'll be needing some of those!
ReplyDeleteI use Vallejo Iraqi Sand - I paint the base with Iraqi Sand, spread some playground sand and then a few drops of diluted matte medium and I'm done.
DeleteGreat stuff, the tufts do help to make it.
ReplyDeleteLovely work, Miles, but those ships are really awesome! I actually looked with contempt on my card tile games because those tiny chits look nowhere near as cool as those steamers! ;)
ReplyDeleteExcellent work! Very, very nice. cheers
ReplyDeleteYou had me hooked with your first ACW vessel of the challenge! They look marvellous . The Fallschrimjaeger look equally good, but as I see so few well painted ACW river boats my eyes keep going back to them.
ReplyDeleteGreat entry Miles, another thumbs up from me for Tajima1 tufts and the service they provide.
ReplyDeleteNice work again, I'm especially impressed by the boat models you've posted in this challenge, not something that is seen as commonly.
ReplyDeleteThanks - I really enjoy building ship models and it's hard for even someone with my basic skills to mess up a Thoroughbred Miniatures ironclad - I highly recommend them
ReplyDeleteThe Tajima1 stuff is fantastic - I wish I had discovered them at the beginning of this year's Challenge - back to painting more stuff!
