From RossM: 20mm D.A.K Command Figures (44 Points)

First finished figures of this year and first for this year's challenge.

Picked these figures up at Carronade over a decade ago and decided that this would be their year.

The figures are from the SHQ Mediterrean range of WW2 Germans and are great figures in 20mm. The castings are clear, the detail crisp although to some the figures would slightly too thin.

There are two Lt and two radio operators and spotters however, these figures never go wrong.

There are more from this range to follow throughout the challenge including a couple of pieces of armour, support weapons and an AT gun.

Scoring for these I believe is:

11 x 20mm figures at 4 points each, totaling 44 points for my first entry (8.8 % of total completed)

Hello Ross, welcome aboard! As an aspiring 20mm WW2 type myself, I welcome this first submission, it looks lovely.  Indeed I recognized the thin bodies and unique arms of these fine SHQ sculpts almost immediately, a range I need to explore a little more in my own collection!

It's also lovely to see some figures purchased ten years ago getting under the brush! Well done.

That is indeed 44 points for you, we look forward to more.

  1. Very nice Ross, the SHQ figure range is really top notch and your painting really shows them off well.

  2. Ah, it's great to see these venerable SHQ getting some excellent attention. I've always had a soft spot for these castings. They may be a bit awkward in spots, but they look terrific when painted up, as we see here. Well done, Ross!

  3. Excellent work on these fine figures! I keep thinking about giving 20mm WW2 a go myself and entries like this one are actually not helpful at all.
