PUSA HISPIDA SAIMENSIS
How cute can one be?
News! Despite stubborn belief, Polar bears do not walk on the streets of Helsinki. But what we do have an endangered species: the Saimaa ringed seal, ‘saimaannorppa’. They are among the most endangered seals in the world, having a total population of only about 370 individuals. The only existing population of these seals is found in Lake Saimaa, Finland (hence the name) and it is one of the only seals that live in freshwater. Saimaannorppa desperately needs snow and ice for the cubs, and during mild winters volunteers run to the rescue constructing what is needed for the seal to thrive.
---End of Finn talking about Finland---
I'm writing this intro on Wednesday (while the Wednesday minion is probably sleeping), because I'm quite busy tonight and tomorrow because of travelling. I do hope to minion all the posts without catastrophical errors. At the moment tomorrow looks calm, but I'm sure there will be lots of more of these great movies coming in!
- Geoffrey has created a new western movie
- Andrew has created a new naval movie
- Peter has created a new pict movie, Moving Pict(ure)s
- Lee has created a new War of the Roses movie, as expected
- No-one has created any turnip movies!
Another pearl of Finnish wisdom ;-) , have a great day
ReplyDeleteAlways learn something, even something small!
DeleteWot no turnips?! Well, is it worth looking then? ;-)
ReplyDeleteNo turnips here!
DeleteHave a great day, Teemu! However, your last note needs a codicil - no-one has created any turnip movies...yet! ;)
ReplyDeleteWe will see, does anyone take this as a challenge? :)
DeleteHave a good one Teemu
