More Star Wars: Rebellion! Today I complete the Empire forces with their naval contingent. Again, a mix of scales- let's work our way up.
At ~1: 1 000, 24 TIE fighters. Each TIE has 24 triangular panels on its wings, making a mind-numbing 576 panels.
At ~1: 2 000, 8 Gozanti Cruisers.
At ~1: 25 000, 8 Star Destroyers.
At ~1: 200 000, 2 Super Star Destroyers.
And at ~1: 4 000 000, not one, not two, but 2.5 Death Stars! In the game, you start with one and can build a second (in the improbable event of misplacing or losing the first one). Whilst it is being built you mark its location with the 'under construction' model.
These were all grey-undercoated, then blackwashed, then drybrushed several shades of grey. The last layer was a very light white, which really helps these 'pop' on the board. They are all a bit darker than they appear in the photos.
Again, I leave it to the minions to allocate points!
Next week: the rebels.
Alan and Paul: Wow Barks! This is turning out to be a truly impressive Imperial fleet you have. The Rebels had really better start producing ships if they are going to stand any sort of chance. The Death Stars and Super Star Destroyers look particularly good, the detail really popping with your painting style. The size of these ships is pretty similar to most 6mm vehicles. so your 45 Imperial ships this week earn you 90 points.

Nice Work, it's too bad they couldn't do them all in scale with each other but I suppose the Death Star makes that impossible. These look great Barks.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Adam- even without the Death Star it would be a struggle!
Delete"Who needs two Death Stars?" some may ask. "That's the bare minimum" would be my response "The more the better"
ReplyDeleteNice ships Barks :)
That pesky rebellion wouldn't have been able to handle two, that's where the Empire went wrong.
DeleteGreat looking Imperial fleet!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Thanks, Axebreaker!
DeleteLoving the OTT. Death Stars. Great stuff
ReplyDeleteOne just isn't enough.
Delete"Oh, I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive. Though now I'm having second thoughts about not covering that thermal vent..."
ReplyDeleteTopical AND nostalgic - not many can pull that off, but you did so with ease. Well done, Barks!
It's been a good few weeks for this Star Wars fan.
DeleteThese look smashing, well done on all the panels! But can they do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs?
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy talk, no one can do the Kessel Run in under twelve parsecs!
Deletelove these, really do look the part
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martin, they've got a distinct style.
DeleteReally nice Barks. It must be something when you have them all out on the table. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope to get a game in once they're all done!
DeleteGreat stuff!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Peter!
DeleteSpare Death Stars - the ultimate preparation to rule the galaxy...
ReplyDeleteBetter to have it and not need it rather than the other way around!
Delete2.5 Death Stars, I think someone's being greedy!
ReplyDeleteOm nom nom.
DeleteMore Star Wars goodness. Imperial procurement policy seems founded on the idea that you can never have enough super-duper strategic assets, even if they always go ka-blooey at the end.
ReplyDeleteYet it is nothing compared to the power of The Force.
DeleteGreat work in pimping your copy of the game, Barks.
ReplyDeleteYou have to applaud the Empire's procurement policy. It keeps people working and if you pack them into stuff before they blow up then you don't have to worry much about payroll. The constant onboarding must be brutal for HR though...
And the insurance costs...
DeleteGreat in all scales
ReplyDeleteIan
Thanks, Ian!
Deletevery cool, those Death Stars are really brilliant, aweinspiring stuff!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sander, I can't wait to use them to bring peace and order to the galaxy!
DeleteTerrific stuff. I love the "unfinished "Death star. The world needs more unfinished deathstars.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very thematic model amongst a host of thematic models!
