"Attendez-vous, filthy peasants! Je m'appelle Raimond 'L'amoreux d'un' Rouselle! Je suis the Rules Lawyer, and you are in violation herewith!"
M. Rouselle was a French bureaucrat during the 1675 Revolt of the Stamped Papers (La Révolte du Papier Timbré). He would intimidate the revolting peasantry with his big rulebook and floppy hat, but was actually craven and there is no known record of him fighting any battles.
Why is he 'L'amoreux d'un?' History is silent, but we can draw our own conclusions.
This chap is from Eureka. I thought at first he had cool gloves, but later realised he has big cuffs. I can see him as a meddling priest or missionary in pirate games.

Beautiful entry Barks. The story is great as is the figure. While kind of a plain look overall for him (he really needs a good stylist to help make his wardrobe pop, as peasant brown has long since gone out of style) it suits the figure and the timeframe, and is well done.
I believe I have said it before, but will say it again, all the non-combatant figures that you and others are painting this challenge are wonderful. They add a lot of character to games, and I love the idea of having them, but for some reason I never get around to painting any myself.

Lovely entry Barks! :)
ReplyDeleteCheers, Tamsin!
DeleteGreat figure and great story Barks. Are those moth holes in his clothes or the results of near misses with musket shots? I’m pretty sure I’ve played against this guy.
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure he’s a great lawyer, so his clothes are a bit shabby.
DeleteReally nice figure, what would have happened to this gentleman during the Revolution in 1789?
ReplyDeleteTo be most correct, he’d be long dead.
DeleteFab work Barks, we all need haranguing from time to time and he looks just the fella for the job.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Paul!
DeleteWell done! He looks just like one of those fervent Puritans haranguing the poor settlers in the new world
ReplyDeleteCertainly does!
DeleteLovely characterful preacher!
