From Curt: Mar-a-Lago Militia - The Boggs (25 Points)

Hey Y'all,

I return to my ACWII project with these colourful denizens from the dark, dank swamps of south Florida. I give you the Bogg family.

In my wondrous, fictitious, fantastical and terrifying 'Merica they they are part of the local Mara-a-Lago Militia, fiercely loyal to Father Dagon and 'The King in Orange' (Yellow being so very passe these days).

The Boggs (distant cousins to their Yankee Innsmouth relations, the Marsh family) are a spiteful, vain, and oily clan. They revel in their own stupidity, are selfish, hate outsiders and rarely listen to reason.

Yes, they very much have 'the Mar-a-Lago look'.

Cyrus

Cletus

Ruffus

Festus

Jo Lean

These figures are Deep One Hybrids, 3d prints from KLT Studio. I had fun working with their flesh tones, giving them a fishy look about them, but in the end they sort of have a Simpson vibe going on, which makes me smile as I can easily envision an episode where he Boggs cause chaos amongst the good folk of Springfield. :)

The Boggs will give me 25 points and one point for the Squirrel Duel ('ACWII Red Forces').

Thanks for dropping in for a look!

- Curt

  1. Fabulous work, Curt! Only recently I came about a trailer park project, not too dissimilar to yours, over on the Lead Adventure Forum and instantly thought about this project of yours. Good to see it back on the painting table.

    1. Thanks Nick. Frankly, I'd prefer this project to be sitting at the back of the cabinet, but it's unfortunately become topical again.

    2. I totally get it. But given the circumstances I‘d say it's at least a healthy way to vent your frustration

  2. At first I was wondering what are these yellow things, but then I read they are Deep One Hybrids and it all startedt to make sense. Interesting project you have - again!

    1. Thanks Teemu. Yeah, they are a bit more fishy and greenish in tone but there it is - Simpson Hybrids. :)

  3. Very nice. How do you do the see thru bases? Do you cut off the metal bases or tabs? Or only use these on 3d prints?. Is there any problem with glue or paint getting on the see thru base and ruining it?. I usually have to patch up any minis post basing, so imagine I’d be stuck with any screw ups.

    1. Cheers Geoff. The bases are just clear acrylic. Fellow Challenger and friend Byron (who is proprietor of Northern Lights Terrain) cut them for me. Yes, I do cut away puddle bases and file, or in this case they were easy as they're 3d prints without bases. I just use superglue (very carefully) as it will cloud them if applied to thickly (or around a lot of humidity).

  4. Excellent! I figured that you might return to this project with the return of the Emperor Trump. Better finish it quickly before we become the 51st state and get arrested for sedition.

Did you fill in your duels form to record your mutant squirrel 🐿️?

    1. Probably. Though I think immigrants and K-12 books are their primary fair. :)

  8. Good looking stuff Curt, so are you going to do crazy left wing nut jobs for these crazy right wing nut jobs to fight? I could think of many crazy figures to paint for that! I mean with the way things are going down there it could be a simulation soon enough.
