A death or funerary mask can be made by applying wax to the recently deceased. This can then be copied in plaster. In Florence, you can see Dante's death mask- but recent scholars contend it is a fake. Renowned author Dan Brown features the theft of the mask in his 2013 novel Inferno.

ReplyDeleteHow about that, I had not realised I’d done any skulls, I guess they are so ubiquitous to games workshop figures, I hadn’t thought they would be elsewhere. Obviously i spotted them well enough to wipe some bone paint over the top.
