My entry today is some more support weapons for my British Airborne
unit. In this case a second PIAT and the ubiquitous 2-inch portable mortar… I
wonder if besides the umbrella what is more British than a 2-inch mortar (used
even today).
The PIAT team is not advancing like the one posted yesterday but in
prone position and ready to engage an incoming enemy vehicle.
The 2-inch mortar team is also showed in action, the models in dynamic poses
and with a good level of detail. I decided to paint and based them individually
(easier to store and carry to the club), but after finishing the team I began
to ask myself if I should make a small vignette out of the mortar. Still
undecided, any comment from other participants are welcome.
Both teams are Warlord metal models in 28mm.
With this entry I credit and additional 20 points to my Challenge score.
I’m almost finished with the support weapons (a Vickers HMG is in the pipeline)
so I’ll turn now to the rank and file Bren and rifles sections. Also the Scout
Theme Round is approaching fast and should start working in my entry before January 5th.
More plucky paras for us to admire - wonderful work, Benito.
Warlord has done a very nice job on this range and your brushwork is showing them to their best advantage.
Personally, I'd bring the teams together into small vignettes as I just like making vignettes, but also because I think that the loose figures will be more prone to damage or getting misplaced just when you need them. Just my two clips of ammo. :)
20 more points to add your your growing total. Well done B!

More worthy additions to your red devils! I‘m all with Curt in regards to basing these together. It‘s so much more visually appealing and as Curt states it also protects the paintjob a little.
ReplyDeleteLovely job - always love a good Red Devil force! And they play very well in both BA and CoC too. Just beware that while your bayonets are sharp, you have less firepower than...pretty much everyone!
ReplyDeleteGreat work, I'd be inclined to base them as a vignette (I do with all of mine) makes them easier to transport and means they are less likely to get damaged.
ReplyDeletelovely and I agree with the vignette plan
ReplyDeleteWell painted models need a nice base to display/protect them, I'd base them together if I were you.
ReplyDeleteReally nice work and another vote for vignettes!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
More good stuff Benito.

Your Paras continue to delight Benito :)
ReplyDeleteBenito, these look superb. Regarding basing I would also suggest a vignette for similar reasons as above and that they look great on and off the table.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Ross
Lovely work on the Denison smocks!
ReplyDeleteWonderful brushwork Benito. As Dux said, the smocks are superb.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Benito. You are really nailing these paras. Fantastic stuff.
ReplyDeleteMore lovely figures!
ReplyDeleteNice work Benito!
ReplyDeleteOk so vignette wins. I’ll work out something over the weekend

ReplyDeleteWell done, Benito. I vote for the vignette
DeleteGreat weapons teams Benito! I'll add another vote for basing them as teams - it's fun to do, it prevents figs getting lost, it look waaaaay better and it helps with Dooffus games like me moving only one half the team!
ReplyDeleteI’m a fan of vignette basing.
ReplyDeleteGreat follow-up to your first post Benito!
ReplyDeleteJust bouncing from nearly current to where I left off...but these paras are really well executed. I'm enjoying them quite a bit!
