Hi
These guys were interesting to paint up, as I decided to only use the new(ish) contrast paints from Games Workshop as an experiment.
These figures are the 'Untamed Beasts' war band from the
Warcry starter set that Games Workshop released last year. As I have little emotional attachment to the figures (though they are quite good) or the game (also pretty good), they made the perfect opportunity to trial the new paints.
As most people have reported, they are good for some things, not so great at others. I don't know that I will have much use for them except for getting projects like this finished quickly (it was blistering quick to get these nine miniatures finished). Apart from the odd brief flirtation with something different, I'm pretty wedded to using black undercoat. So the effort to get a smooth base of white or cream over the black to use the contrast paints negates any time that would be saved using the contrast paints for small sections.
All in all, a fun experiment, and I definitely got better at controlling the paints.
There are nine plastic 28 mm figures for 45 points.
In an aside, my 3 year old son saw them this morning and declared them to be ninjas, a stance from which he could not be shifted, hence the title of the post.
Cheers,
Steve
MilesR: Who am I to go against the decision of your son - Ninja's they are. +5 points for son's keen ability to actually see the ninja's in their elaborate disguise
"From the mouths of babes..." face it Stephen, they are ninjas. And pretty nifty looking too. :)
ReplyDeleteI never argue with three year olds! Great Ninjas.
