Thor's Day All Aboard!

Welcome back to celebrate the Thor's Day! I continue the ever popular informative section of Finland and then a quick look at the coming posts.

:stuck:

STUCK

The feeling when you realize winter is here.

Even a Finnish child knows you shouldn’t lick anything made out of metal when it’s freezing outside. But you do it anyway. And then you’re stuck*!

*Ask a Finn how to get your tongue unstuck. Beware. It can get nasty.

--- End of Finn writing about Finland ---

We have lots of posts today and after today all of the Thor's Day Team has made at least one post! I guess that means, that they won't get stuck (see above). Sadly the weather in Finland is now couple of degrees above zero, so we can't practice getting stuck and unstuck...

  • We have historical movies about Late Rome, Norman Invasion, War of the Roses, Renaissance and WW2 (edit: WW2 movie postponed next week due logistic issues)
  • We have futuristic movies about Near Future and Grim Future
  • We have an artistic movie about Strange Monster
  • We have a documentary movie about Dark Age
  • We have a rock musical
  • We take a limo rides with Nuns and Living Deads
  • ...and More?

    2. Your comment on Thursday being Thor's Day opened my curiosity abot the ethimology of the word in Romance languages (Jueves in Spanish, Jeudi in French or Giovedi in Italian) Apparently derives from the word Jupiter, the CEO of the Olympus so it's also an important day in the non-barbaric and civilized regions of Southern Europe

    3. Thursday seems to be strongly tied to sky and storms in every language. :)

    1. Ice is basically cold water. Hot water is the answer, but hot water on frozen tongue doesn't feel nice...

    1. Thank you, Iain! It has been great (ignoring the fact that at work pretty much nothing went as planned...).

  5. Have a good Thor's Day, Teemu! :)

From what I've read about arctic warfare training, gentlemen don't just have to be wary of licking - something about the urgent need to relieve the bladder and being careful with the shake at the end...

    1. It is not only a Finnish thing, of course, but unknown to many. I think I handled the late shift and I'm now ready to rest. There will some scheduled posts coming up!
