Apologies for the late entry today, its been a busy week but I needed to keep my ship a week target up, it's not a Challenge for nothing !
Having finished the 10 German Destroyers for Narvik last week it was time to move on to the British, there were 5 H Class ships in the first battle followed up by 4 Tribals and 5 mixed Destroyers for a total of 14 ships (plus Warspite of course).
This is HMS Hostile, Pennant number H55, the model is 1/700 scale and from a company called IBG Models in Poland, these are what I call a "Big boy" kit, there is a load of photo etch, some of which is on the kit 😀 The detail is amazing.
HMS Hostile had spent a lot of time in Spanish waters during the Civil War enforcing the arms embargo, she entered the port of Narvik in the initial British attack, torpedoing a number of merchant ships. Hostile then engaged the German Destroyer Z17, causing significant damage for only one hit in return. She briefly escorted Warspite the next day before escorting HMS Hotspur home as she was badly damaged.
Her War ended later that year when on the 22nd August Hostile hit an Italian mine and had to be scuttled.
So that's another 40 points in the bag, this week will be a real challenge to get a ship done due to work but I'm going to give it a go. HMS Havock is looking at me
TeemuL: I'm quite sure there should be a circle in Dante's Abyss for "Hostile". For "Havock", too... But I disgress. Another fine ship, Ken, and you have joined PaulSS in Thursday crew to paint both sides of a conflict. Am I wrong, but is this more brown than the German ships? Very lifelike - as lifelike a grey metal construct can be, but I guess you understand.
P.S. I added some basic labels to the post, I hope you have more time next week. ;)
Lovely work Ken. I am very envious of your ship painting skills. Much better than mine..although mine are bigger and apparently size matters.....
ReplyDeleteThey really do look superb and the detail on those kits is fantastic. Very lovely to see.
Many thanks Adam 👍
DeleteLovely as always Ken
ReplyDeleteCheers mate 👍
DeleteI just love your ships; they have the right amount of grime and staining to look realistic without being overdone.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it's very easy to over weather 👍
DeleteGreat stuff
ReplyDeleteCheers Martin 👍
DeleteThat’s a lovely kit , great stuff
ReplyDeleteCheers Ray
DeleteThanks Teemu, I don't know what happened to the labels as I definitely put them on ! By more brown, do you mean the decks ? The British covered them in a material called Cortecene which was non-slip when wet 👍
ReplyDeleteIn fact now I look at it there is a photo and a paragraph of writing missing as well, very strange
DeleteMaybe you are faster than autosave? Closed the page too quick?
DeleteAnother fabulous ship. Really enjoy these.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bruce 👍
DeleteYou are a machine Ken. Wonderful stuff
ReplyDeleteCheers mate, a ship a week keeps the Doctor away
DeleteI love these vessels that you keep producing
ReplyDeleteThank you 😊
DeleteAnother great looking ship, Ken. Well done ol chap!
ReplyDeleteCheers mate 👍
DeleteFantastic job Ken, photo-etch on a gaming model? insanity!
ReplyDeleteIt is the devil's work !
Deletegot to avoid your posts Ken - the call of the sea in every photo - I cant get over the feel of the deck details - just feels like I am looking at a real photo - I guess if you posted them in black and white with a crumbly photograph edge you could pass them off to the untutored eye as real!!
ReplyDeleteCheers, I might start selling photos on ebay 😉😆
DeleteWell done again Ken, this is such a great project
ReplyDeleteMany thanks 👍
DeleteLovely work.
