Following on from
last weeks Confederate firing line, another unit is ready to trade volleys with the blue bellies. This time it's the
4th North Carolina Infantry Regiment again using figures from
the Crusader Miniatures range.
The standards are from
Flags of War and represent the battle honours from 1862, many more battle honours were added before the surrender at Appomattox Court House in 1865.
I've added a lot more butternut to this unit than my earlier units in this years challenge. I thought I needed a break from the greys, so we are about half and half with browns and greys in this unit.
I'm currently on vacation in Cornwall with Victoria so the usual photographic backdrop and lighting is back home, I don't seem to take good photos improvising with a chopping board on the coffee table in the old barn we rented.
Eighteen 28mm figures and a pair of standards is 92 more points on the board.
American Civil War Duel Totalizer: 136 foot, 2 mounted, 4 horses (825pts)
Napoleonic Duel Totalizer: 8 foot, 2 mounted (100pts)

Another week, another wonderful ACW unit from Paul SS. Great brushwork - even without your usual backdrop, the smooth colours we all associate with your brush skills are evident. I'm certainly impressed with these Crusader figures - do you rate them better than Perry stuff, or just different?
Well done - hope you enjoy vacation!

DeleteNice work, Paul! The butternut turned out very well! You should check out the battle of Miner Creek. A large Confederate force lost to Union Cavalry. It was a Western battle and most of the rebels were wearing surplus union uniforms. Quite a few ranking officers were captured trying to rally what they thought were fleeing troops! A little union blue in the ranks is good for the scavenging the regiments did in the later years.
ReplyDeleteThanks David, I'll try to add in a few more blues next time I do a raggedy unit.

ReplyDeleteThank you
The Crusader units stand well next to Perry units, but I'd probably not mix them in the same unit. The figures are well animated and have great details, I'd say they are a little bit slighter than the Perry ones.
Awesome brushwork Paul!

DeleteThat’s a nice shade of brown.
ReplyDeleteThank you Barks, it's from a base of VMC Field Drab
