Hi All,
As Dave recently declared that Tuesday should be kept 'Turnip Free', I thought it best to send in a tuber torpedo with these 'Davekon Radish Light Dragoons'. ;P
These motley fellows represent the light cavalry, or 'the Welps' in Turnip parlance. The base models are from Knucklebones Miniatures, with a few modifications involving head-swaps, etc. I quite like these figures as they have sort of a Ralph Bakshi 'Wizards' vibe going on.
This one I did up with a bicorne as his pose reminds me of David's famous painting of Napoleon crossing the Alps.
For the standard bearer, I removed the musket and replaced it with a brass rod. I then made up a flag for the pole, freehanding a heraldic device.
As to scoring, these four cavalry figures should give me 40 points.
Thanks for dropping in! Have a great week!
- Curt
It's always good to have the Show Lord himself drop by. When I saw the title, I thought "Welp" might be a reference to the noise DaveD will make when he sees this post appear on a Tuesday, followed closely by "wibble, wibble".
These cavalry and their "mounts" look very, well, bizarre. Great painting and basing, Curt.

Nice work Curt. It must be difficult trying to work out what's what on the figures?
ReplyDeleteStick some glue on and hit it with static grass - job done 😂😂😂
DeleteBrilliant, possibly.
ReplyDeleteThose are awesome,Curt! DOUBLE points for the RB "Wizards" refence. They do have that vibe and the blue skin of the mounts is very nice. I like the flag bearer and bearskin turnips the best, but now you ABSOLUTELY need a barefooted bearded wizard for a commander!
ReplyDeleteMy usual comment in your submissions this year: WOW. I have no frecking idea of what they are but they look cool, magnetic, irresisitible attractive....
ReplyDeleteSimply magical Curt- and disturbing- and humorous- and fun- and inventive- where am I going with this? Well, its what this little hobby of ours is all about :)
ReplyDeleteMorion helmet FTW! Great brushwork as always man!
ReplyDeleteOh my God, Museums all over the world are now revising their version of Napoleon Crossing the Alps -its so clever and well done we'll forgive you just this once for polluting Tuesdays 👌
ReplyDeleteIntersting figures and well painted
ReplyDeleteDamn yer eyes man. Some kind of weedkiller is needed to counter this invasion ! Nice painting mind
ReplyDeleteTurnipbegone? ;)
Delete(formula derived from the legendary Millsbegone)
You read my mind
DeleteOr industrial quantities of Agent Orange dropped by B52’s
DeleteMore of the damn things! Abominations all, but very well painted.
ReplyDeleteHow delightfully bonkers.
ReplyDeleteWonderful stuff Curt
ReplyDeleteLove the standard. Great work here.
ReplyDeletevery colourful indeed!
ReplyDeleteI like the Napoleon, and the Bakshi reference!
ReplyDeleteCracking paint job, the colours just leap out. Much like the weird mounts which fit the theme brilliantly.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking weirdo cavalry here dude!!
ReplyDeleteCurt you continue to amaze with your quality paint even though on vegetable troops. Great work and photos.
ReplyDeleteNapoleon as David should have painted him! Finally something faintly recognisable among the groceries. Absolutely fabulous, Curt!
ReplyDeleteSplendid vegetable light cavalry, excellent painting as always!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
