From PaulSS: [The Guardroom] Vicious old lady (25pts)

The Guardroom: This chamber-challenge is to paint some donut-munching, soundly-sleeping, or professionally competent guards.  Bonus points for painting things they might be guarding, as well.

I don't think that there could possibly be anything more competent at preventing the thievery of the common soldiery than a vicious old lady with a stick backed up by her slathering hound.

This great figure is the second part of the Egg Collecting set from Eureka Miniatures that I painted a few days ago. The dog has a pail of eggs and as well as her stick the old lady also carries a basket of produce to be guarded from the thieving blaggards passing through on their way to Mont St. Jean

There is a single 28mm figure with the location bonus for a total of 25 points.

28mm Napoleonics Duel Totalizer: 14 mounted, 55 foot

  2. Excellent work Paul and great take on the theme. I’ve encountered these guards women cutting through backyards or playing knock knock ginger in my youth.

    1. Thank you Curt, they don't help themselves with no photos on the site

    2. Agreed. I had a huge rant about that a few years ago (photos AND site organization). They're not alone in this - so many hobby businesses have completely crap websites. It's like they actually don't want to sell their products. Infuriatingly strange.

  5. One old lady vs. a battalion of infantry? Those poor lads don't stand a chance. Great work on this mini.

  6. I wouldn't like to confront her in close combat in the battlefield. Gret paint work

  7. Oh Lordy... you may be a starving French grognard. You might not have enjoyed a decent meal since you left Paris. But there's just no way you're going to be stealing her pail of eggs! Great work, Paul!

    1. Thanks Sidney.
I think he would end up with a couple of sore "spuds" to take his mind off his empty belly.
