Paul SS: Tanners and Drunkards - 105pts

I have more than enough painted for our Barons' War games so been adding a few scenic items and vignettes to the collection.

A browse of Etsy turned up several sellers doing Reconquer Designs and I settled on three sets printed by MiniatureForge3D. (Ed DaveD -Good find I think sometimes it’s worth just getting these when you find em as things come and go in that space I find)

The first set is the Tavern Patrons, a trio of chaps in their cups, while the tavern keeper watches on and the bar maid talks with a less inebriated customer.

The cobblestones are from Wills Scenics while the basket and sacks are from the Victrix Market Stalls, hopefully more of those in a later post.

The next set painted was Medieval Tanners, a great set with loads of extras to set the scene. As well as seven figures, there is a dog, drying racks, butts and stations to remove the hair.

Medieval tanning was a process that even the poor looked down on, the hides were soaked in urine or lime to soften the hairs and then they were scraped off. The skins were then soaked for up to six months in a mixture of dog faeces, fermented barley or rye and stale beer or urine.

I suspect these folks did not make many friends outside of work.

The last set completed this week was Shepherd and Spanish Mastiffs.

The figures in this Reconquer Designs range is mainly aimed at the Spanish Reconquista but this collection should work ok on a Barons' War table.

There was a small problem with my initial order in that they were printed out at 32mm scale rather than 28mm so the above are all the replacements sent. So I have painted a trio of the larger figures to use in our games if we need a bit more table dressing.

Every shepherds crook broke, this one pinged off into obscurity!

I've tagged Sarah's Choice, four ladies to choose from in this entry.

Seventeen 28mm figures would be 85pts and I reckon the four dogs and other pieces are worth another 15pts.

From DaveD . Now that’s a nice eclectic mix . I do like the tannery set , certainly not something you see every day and pleased to see vignette sets making an appearance in collections . The basing with cobblestones sets things off nicely too and I am going to recognise that effort , so 105 it is.

  2. A fine bunch of medieval peasantry and very nicely painted. It’s always great to have these civilians on hand as table dressing. I quite like the tanners set. Certainly tanning and filling would have been one of the worst smelling jobs in history. I feel your pain on the pinged off shepherd’s crooks.

  4. Always fun to add to the table. These are excellent and actually depicting life around the table. Love it.

  5. I think this is what’s great about resin - the future of small runs of obscure items - fleetingly available. The figure colours are splendid with a nice range of browns and creams - great stuff
