Update on Side Challenges & Paint Duels

Hi Folks!

I've been meaning to catch up on the tabulations for the Side Challenges & Paint Duels, but it seems our good friend Byron has taken it upon himself to provide a draft of a score-sheet, a summary of which you can see below (he has each scoring entry listed on his main sheet - yikes).  He's also agreed to take on the role of Duel Minion in order that the sheet stay maintained and up-to-date. Thanks so much Byron - You're my Hero!

Byron and I know that this preliminary sheet will have errors, so please drop him a note (bmudry at shaw dot ca) and he'll make the appropriate edits. Byron asks that you title your email to him for easy searching and making sure your messages are caught, something like “Painting Challenge Points Update - <whatever duel it is for or relevant comment>”.

In the future we will be installing this on the right sidebar once our wayward Spreadsheet Minion gets back to his seat in the Challenge Galley. Geez, spare the lash for the weekend and they go all soft on you...

Now, back to your oars, er, brushes!

  1. Your wayward minion report in - will get to it this week

Please don't put me in the painting hole again. It's really creepy being in their with learning over the edge saying "It puts the paint on the miniature or else it gets the hose again".

    1. The spreadsheet is updated, my most wise and benevolent task master. Please don't turn the hose on me again...

  2. Curses, I stand a little behind GregB in the 30k challenge.... And he has eleventy hundred points to catch up in the sci-if duel so will no doubt have work in the pipeline.... I shall have to send word to the manufactorums to up their output!

  3. I am behind in both my challengers though the 6mm Challenge will see me take the lead with todays subs :-)

  4. I have more painted LotR figures (2) than the two official participants! :)

  5. I decided not to do any side challenges this year, but I wish all the contenders good luck!

  6. Curt's familias is growing to be quite large now. Hope he has enough manacles and collars (bet Millsy's got some spare ones in leopard skin)
Thanks to Byron for the tally
    Couple of points
    1. I have 755 points of Zulus - each and every point is engrained on my brain.
    2. Not my intention to enter the Zulus for both side duels so can I have 0 points for the Bronze to Steel Challenge - for the moment

    1. If you don't want them counting for both that's up to you. My understanding is that Zulu's initiated in the 1700's some time and are still around. The Steel age I always take as to WWI, but there are arguments about when exactly it ended, or if it is still going, I just like WW1 as a break point at least for miniatures. I will get your points updated.

    2. I've got tonnes of suitable figures to win this challenge;). Doesn't feel right to count them twice. Cheers

  7. Thanks for doing this Byron. The Sci-Fi duel looks pretty accurate. I'm not up to date on GregB's total. Does the 185 currently include the Nostalgia Bonus round? It looked like we were leaning toward including Bonus points in the tally.

    1. Bonus rounds do count, but have not been added to the above numbers. Some of the challenges are a little hard to tell what exactly is included (see Zulu comments above and in fact another potential omission I just found is the Aztec submission, to me that isn't what I would think of for the "Native American" challenge, but technically they are. Not sure on the intent on some of the challenges so hard to determine).

Hopefully, if everyone starts putting notes in their entries, or emails me, problems with interpretation will be solved.

  8. Thanks for doing this Byron. Do you mind adding an "l" to my name? SylvainR. Thanks!

    1. Corrected on my sheet Sylvain, not here though (no edit rights). Sorry to you and anyone else I have names wrong on, I just copied and pasted from the notes in most cases, but did type (mistype) some of them in manually.

  9. There are a couple of bits missing from the side challenge list :)

There's my side challenge to finish the core Dungeon Saga set with AidanM (128 points to me, 0 to AidanM), plus Curt was going to add me to the list of Frostgrave challengers way back when (looks like it got missed). My Frostgrave total is currently sat at 152 points

    1. Ok, I will add you to the Frostgrave challenge. I saw the Dungeon Saga set one, but was not sure how to put that in there. Since it is a set, do points matter? I thought it was just whomever got it done first, not related to points at all. Now, if you tell me how many points the set will total to, I can put a x/y total there, but even that it is really a binary thing (either you won or not) more than a tracking thing, isn't it? There was one other like that too, so I just left both out (so far).

    2. Thanks!

The winning point is a binary thing, but X of Y would be a good tracking point. The total set would be worth 183 points

    3. Another 128 points worth of Frostgrave got added to my total today ;)

  10. The Standings for the Bavarian Challenge are ChristopherS 144 and MartinN 20 at the moment.
