That was awesome!
I started the Challenge with a goal of 100 points. I revised that to 325 and finished with 916. I managed to complete all the planets on the Challenge XII Quadrant Map, with a few side trips on Lady Sarah’s Star Yacht. I wasn’t able to complete the final challenge, as I had no outstanding projects or lead pile to draw from! I even squeaked in on the Skull Duel!
I painted my first miniature for this Challenge and I’ve not looked back! I now have an entire room solely for painting, which has amassed quite a stock of supplies in a short time. I also managed to convince my hubby to let me buy a new 3D printer. I truly love this hobby. All the genres intrigue me. I believe that my lack of exposure to the gaming side of the hobby allows me a totally fresh perspective (haha we will go with that!)
The amount of talent I’ve seen in this Challenge is amazing. My days feel a bit empty not being able to check in to see your work and catch a glimpse into everyone’s lives. 🙂
My goal for the upcoming months is to improve on basic skills like shading, highlighting, blending… that type of thing. I am also going to be looking at Gaslands and all that goes with it.
Thank you everyone for showing so much kindness and support. Thank you Curt and the Minions for such a well run event! Also, Tamsin, you're a gem!
Take care and stay safe!
Natasha (Tasha or Tash)
It was a pleased having you along for the ride Tash. And very well done as well, you produced some brilliant minis throughout the Challenge.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ray! It’s been a pleasure being surrounded by such wonderful and talented people. I’m still keeping your tealight trick that you used for your blacksmith tucked away. I will use that some day!
DeleteA very fitting Champion clothing Tasha! Gaming gives a different aspect to painting, you need to paint the models you need, not necessarily what you want. They can overlap, but not necessarily. :) Have fun with Gaslands!
ReplyDeleteIt has been fun to follow your progress, having a different angle and target than most of us. Very impressive output.
And if you miss the daily dose, just start following interesting tags and users in Instagram, go through blogs, join FB groups, buy magazines etc. I'm sure Curt can give couple of hints for example.
See you in December!
Haha Teemu! If only I had a shirt by a brand ‘Participant’ :) I have started following some other tags and users on social media. Great suggestions! I look forward to seeing you in December!
DeleteIt was wonderful having you on Team Tuesday, watching you progress from a complete novice figure painter to achieving a massive 916 points and finishing in 34th place! I loved seeing your take on everything you painted and your genuine enthusiasm. I absolutely hope that you will be back with us for AHPC XIII.
ReplyDeleteBrava! :)
I learned so much from you, Tamsin! Team Tuesday rocked! It would be a privilege to be invited back next year.
DeleteIt was great to have you take part this year Tasha. Really enjoyed watching your progress and always appreciated your comments and enthusiastic feedback.
ReplyDeletePeter, I have enjoyed watching your Beowulf project unfold and also your bits of squirreliness (ok… maybe not a word but it should be!) I always appreciated your supportive comments. Thank you.
DeleteGreat work Tasha and congratulations on such a great points total in your first outing -- and thanks again for all of your kind feedback on my work
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Simon! Your work was wonderful. I’m still quite enamoured with the Rosa figure you painted for your wife.
DeleteWell done on an excellent challenge Tasha. You have definitely picked up the skills quicker than I did when I started painting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter! I wouldn’t have caught on nearly as quickly without everyone here sharing their process. I still have SO much to learn.
Deleteyou've had a fab challenge, really pleased you are hooked. next up the storage nightmare
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Martin! Storage is already a nightmare! I need to revamp the closet in my hobby room and start putting shelves - everywhere!! For those of you that have been doing this for years and decades, you must be storage wizards!
DeleteWell that is great first challenge!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave! I enjoyed meeting you on the Paint and Chats. Please do take care and stay out of the hospital- I think you’ve done your part in keeping them busy!
DeleteI’d say you dove right in and emerged victorious on the other side. Quite a debut! Thanks for being there and thanks ever so much for your kind and supportive comments!
ReplyDeleteIt has been so much fun Martijn! I plan to borrow some of the techniques you used on your Keep for a piece of terrain I have planned for this summer :)
DeleteWell done on an impressive first challenge, you've got noticeably better as you've gone along and it's been nice to be along for the ride!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you so much Iain. Your positive comments on my entries helped to motivate me.
DeleteExcellent collection of mini's and well done for your debut in the Challenge.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lee! I have notes jotted down from your desert hills project.
DeleteYour miniatures are awesome Tasha, but what I really loved was your positive vibe both in your own posts as in your replies to other people's posts, that's what helps make this Challenge such a great event and you fit right in like you have always participated!
ReplyDeletehope to see you next year too! Cheers Sander
Thank you Sander! This is such a wonderful group of people, it is so easy to pick up positive vibes. Spending three months with people doing what they love is good for the soul! I hope to be invited back!
DeleteOutstanding work Natasha, congrats on a tremendous painting Chalenge!
ReplyDeleteNow we just need to get you some Space Marines to paint...
Thanks Greg! Space Marines scare me! There are very specific rules in that universe(and I have zero clue about any of it hahaha). I am trying to paint all kinds of things, so you just never know! Your Raven Guard Librarian is still one of my favourite figures.
DeleteHi Tasha:
ReplyDeleteI always looked forward to your entries, they were original, whimsical, and every one showed your newfound enthusiasm for this artform. I especially liked your wee dragons, I'm going to print and paint some for my wife Joy who has a game on her iPad about baby dragons that she adores.
Looking forward to seeing your work in a future Challenge.
Cheers, MikeP
Mike, thank you again for your kind words! I followed your blog :) I think you will find the tiny dragons a treat to paint! They were a bit of a nuisance to print, but totally worth it!
DeleteCongratulations, Natasha, on not only achieving your target, but exceeding it by a huge amount. As others have commented, I could see your painting skills improve over the course of the challenge. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Frederick! Having just read the Lord of the Rings books for the first time last summer, your Quadrant Star Challenge was particularly engaging for me! They were so well done!
DeleteWhat a great challenge you had Natasha, not only did you paint some really stuff but your support and encouragement for your fellow challengers really stood out. Thank you
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kerry! I enjoyed your posts throughout the Challenge and look forward to seeing what creativity you will bring to Challenge XIII!
DeleteGreat to have you on board! Your style is impressive, and I love that we’ve got you hooked!
ReplyDeleteThank you Barks! I am totally hooked ;) It’s quite wonderful actually! For some reason I keep looking for files to print with skulls…
DeleteFantastic results Tasha, your own room, now that is excellent!
ReplyDeleteSee you for next years challenge I suspect.....
cheers
matt
Thank you so much Matt! I’m already wishing my hobby room was bigger 🤣
