Here we are, roughly at the half way of the Challenge XIII. Is it party time? If yes, just get your underwear on start!
:kalsarikannit:
KALSARIKÄNNIT
The feeling when you are going to get drunk home alone in your underwear – with no intention of going out.
A drink. At home. In your underwear. And there is a word for it: Kalsarikännit.
(Are you worried about pronouncing it right? See ThisisFINLAND’s article and video
--- End of Finn talking about Finland ---
- Geoffrey: Christmas in Finland, Fireworks of New Year in Caribbean and Tour de France
- Lee: Changing sides in England
- Peter: Bats and Tamsin?
- Mike: Dutch and Orks this time, Dwarf on a Couch and a Survivor in a Limo
- Jez: The Usual Ancients, but a crusader, too
- Probably much more
P.S. I might have misunderstood or exaggerated more or less by mistake a lot of twists of the above movies...
P.P.S. I was away for the whole weekend, the annual "Beer, Boardgames and Boys in the middle of nowhere - including sauna" event. Two photos from the weekend below.

No Sauna photos??? Disappointed... have a great day
ReplyDeleteNo, no sauna photos. :) The day looks good and busy, like it should be.
DeleteHave a good Thor's Day, Teemu! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, it's looking good. It is almost storm outside. Something to do with Thor?
DeleteNice intro - drinking in your underpants! Why dont we have a special word in English for this?? Wonder what is the boardgame in the photo?
ReplyDeleteCheers JezT
Actually there is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantsdrunk
DeleteThe boardgame in the photo is Mansions of Madness, 1st ed.
Good Morning!
ReplyDeleteLove the Finnish culture content
Have a great day Minioning 😊
Thank you Sarah!
DeleteFinland seems to be a clothing optional nation. Enjoy your day. Good to see that you got away with the boys.
ReplyDeleteClothing is quite optional, yes. Naked in sauna, drinking in underwear. Unless you are drinking in sauna, then you are naked. And if it is -40C outside, then you can wear longjohns...
DeleteThat sounds like a fun weekend Teemu (BTW I served part of my apprentiship with a farrier named Timo- not a common name in Canada).
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, exhausting, but fun. :) Timo is probably a name of Finnish origin.
DeleteTBH I am surprised the Finns only have ONE word for this. Surely it merits more. Enjoy your weekend mate!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Finnish language is actually quite limited, there are not that many synonyms. Yes, we have several words for snow, but they are all for different kinds of snows. ;)
