I have been slowly, for me, building a 28mm Bavarian army to fight my Napoleonic Russian army. The army is mainly build from Victrix plastic figures, their set is brilliant with 54 figures in a pack including 2 mounted commanders. I topped these up with 2nd hand metals from Perry and Wargames Foundry and some new Perry infantry, cavalry and artillery. Overall the force is actually bigger than the force that invaded Russia, but gives me 4 brigades, which is a nice size for valour and fortitude rules, our current go to set of rules.
I always love the Nappys Martin, and these are some great Bavarians that you've brought us today. I found the early Victrix kits fussy, but I love their late Roman sets. Maybe I'll have to check out their Bavarians. I am adding a couple point for the flag.

The Victrix Bavarians are a much later kit then their French and British foot, so the design sensibilities are far better
ReplyDeleteGreat paint jobs! I always do like the look of a mounted officer in an infantry battalion
DeleteCheers. The plastics were easy to assemble with no stupid poses
DeleteExcellent work, Martin! I like the size of your formations and the integrated mounted officer. V&F are a fun set of rules which we've been enjoying as well. Looking forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteThanks Curt. V&F are our go rules for Naps and ACW. They are good but need reformatting. They are a pain to read
DeleteYes they are.
DeleteGreat painting Martin. Victrix do make nice figures.
ReplyDeleteCheers, yes they do
DeleteThey look great Martin.
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteColourful flags with lots of fussy diamonds plus headgear to die for - the
ReplyDeleteBavarians stand head and shoulders above the rest of the German confederation! Ok well it’s down to those snazzy helmets I guess. Either way an excellent paint job!
Cheers, I did pick them cos they were pretty
DeleteSmart
ReplyDeleteYip
DeleteLovely Bavarians!
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteVery nice! If I ever get my 28mm Napoleonics project going I am considering V&F as well. The Bavarians look great!
ReplyDeleteTa, I do recommend the rules
DeleteSplendid Bavarians, Ive been assembling some Victrix Bavarians for the 1809 campaign, lovely finish on these chaps, V and F are my go to ruleset to and I agree, difficult to read!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Ta. Bavarians rock. They will fight my Russians in spring
ReplyDeleteGreat looking Bavarian troops. The colorful nature of Napoleonic forces make for a great table.
ReplyDeleteTa, I do love a good napoleonic battle
DeleteBrilliant battalion of Bavarians.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to get two battalions from one Victrix pack, or do you need to add extras from another maker? I'm tempted by the set, but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer online. Cheers.
Thanks. There are 54 figures in the pack with 2 full sets of command. Can't remember the exact split of poses but mainly marching with some shooting and reloading etc. 1 have 18 marching or 12 shooting to a battalion on 3 bases, plus command with 4 or 5 figures inc mtd officer.
DeleteVery nice, Martin.
ReplyDeleteCheers
DeleteLovely unit - how do you manage so many?! BTW, good book behind them, I have had dealing with the author in my previous life.
ReplyDeleteIts all down to stubbornness. It is a good book, hope the author was a fool guy, what was you previous life
DeleteI agree on the book, actually all of nhis books are good,
DeleteGreat work mate! Good to see your army progressing
ReplyDeleteCheers
DeleteGreat Bavarians!

DeleteWonderful Martin. Always love the Bavarian blue.
ReplyDeleteTw, me too. Think it's why I did them
DeleteLovely job, a Bavarian contingent is a very compelling project.
ReplyDeleteTa, yes it is. I'm loving them
DeleteLovely. Nice figures, great uniforms and a fine job getting them painted up :)
ReplyDeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteAs a Bavarian I of course approve, even if not many of these poor fellas came back from that trip. Very nice choice of colours, Martin! Your Kornbumenblau looks very convinving to me
