From KerryT: The boys are in town - Landsknechts on the loose (430 points)

 Morning afternoon and evening all

After being away at the beach on holiday last week and therefore not painting or posting, picking up the brushes again has been enjoyable. I've been quite productive managing to knock off some more Landsknechts for my Italian Wars collection. This week I've managed some artillery and some vignettes, the latter providing me with an opportunity to shoehorn them in for a few bonus themes.

Here we go - Danteville

Look out, look out, Landsknechts are about

First up some Wargames Foundry Landsknecht artillery

Boom

I'm going to claim a violence bonus for these but I have to get to that level first

To date, the only bonus point I've claimed is the Limbo bonus and I think that may have been when posting my second entry ages ago.

Finding myself  still stuck in the abyss, I am probably  lucky that there's quite a bit going on  in the nearby in town and there's no doubt that the behaviour of the participants is in fact abysmal! This is because of course the boys are in town and the Landsknechts have been let loose.

All are figures from Warlord Games' Italian Wars range

Casanova and camp follower about to roll in the hay

Well Moly Miggins shall it be a roll in the hayfield or the hayloft?

Looks like lusty behaviour to me

The glutton finds himself a piglet all to himself

Meanwhile back at the tavern, the greedy gamblers are playing dice
Oh bugger says Ray, I've just thrown a one

While at the bridge Cool hand Lucca fires off his ye olde version of six shooters

Do you feel lucky punk? Well do ya?

If he's not cross enough to be seen as wrathful then this little succubus should take me to the next level

Just a wee tipple then

There's no fiddler on this roof

Hey ho hey ho its off to war I go...

Natty dressers

Bless me father for I have sinned...

While around the corner heretics loot and burn the church

All the while, their commanders ponder the next move
A mixture of command figures at a council of war

Kaiser Maximillian looks on

A bird's eye view

Thus hopefully having managed to thread my way through lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, heresy and finally violence I'm going to suggest that Landsknecht commanders whilst dressed like birds of paradise (see what I did there!) are never sure to fight and thus inconstant.

The cast.....

Thus in summary
4 guns each with 4 crew in 28mm @ 30 points each = 120 points
34  x 28mm foot figures @ 5 points each = 170 points
1 x 28mm Mounted figure @ 10 points

Theme bonus points for
Abyss - lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, violence @ 20 points = 100 points
Paradise - Inconstant @ 20 points

Total - 430 points

I hope that's correct Millsy

Many thanks

Valleyboy

From Millsy:

POINTS BOMB!

Wowsers, I feel like I need a cuppa and a lie down after working my way through that lot! What an epic post Kerry. A good thing you had some time off as this must have taken an age to blog, never mind to actually paint the stuff.

It's impossible to pick just one thing from this post as a favourite so I'm going with the vignettes and overall quality for what stands out to me. Your tables are amazing at the best of times and having all this extra set dressing is just another level above.

I can't find a reference to justify the Heresy angle but all the other options for the Abyss are here and with great selections to suggest their particular sins. You math was slightly off I think and when I cranked up the abacus it comes to 430 points (without Heresy). If there's any fault I blame Miles and his evil spreadsheet!

Brilliant stuff once again. My head is still spinning mate!

Cheers,
Millsy

From JohnS - Fun With Flags or Someone's Got To Tell Them What To Do - (65 Points) + 12 skullz

I have been building my Slaughterloo Undead army for years and started out with Zombie Line Infantry which were just troops. Last year Alternative Armies released Colour Parties for the Zombie Line. I snatched them up!

Colour Parties To The Front!

As I have two units of Zombie Line, one in green coats and one in brown I painted a Colour Party for each.

The observant may note that these are Neapolitan Colours, with bonus skullz!

Of course, it makes complete sense that a bunch of mindless zombie troops would be lead by a mindless zombie colour party. Pretty sure I marched behind some in my younger days.

And talking of leading, who could forget our friends from the KGB. Four more of these friendly blights on undead society join us this week.

Three KGB on foot and one riding

Even in the Undead Worker's Paradise, some are more equal than others.

Being a horseholder is an important and valued job.

The last entry this week is a single Zombiski Kossack. Not QUITE dead, they are the terrifying semi-controlled light cavalry employed by The Star Wraith. Due to their semi-life status they are able to take orders and act independently. I have five already painted so needed a sixth to make the minimum unit size.

So that's all for this week. I'm getting close to my target and hope to pass it next week.

9 x 28mm foot @ 5ea = 45

2 x 28mm mounted @10ea = 20

Total - 65 points

PLUS 12 skullz taking me to 90 skullz so far

From Millsy:

Three blokes taking a flag for a walk! Who doesn't love a colour party? These are great fun and the rehashed French flag with the skull motif is hilarious. Moar skullz! The cossacks are very cool too.

You've really dived in the deep end with the Slaughterloo stuff this Challenge mate and the outcome will be a big increase in painted lead which is brilliant. Of course I'm still waiting on my invite to come play but that's another story...

65 points it is.

Cheers,
Millsy

From SanderS: "I am Gregarius!" Part 2. (60 points)

 Hoi,

As I said in an earlier post; Greg has an excellent taste in figures, which happens to be very similar to mine...  In one of my earlier posts I showed you guys my rendition of the Old World Mercenary General and Marco Columbo which Greg had painted (far better) for one of his earlier posts.

Look HERE for Greg's version

Now I wil show you my rendition of another Dogs of War (Mercenary) unit Greg has painted which was on my pile as well: The Alcatani Fellowship pikemen.

Gregs version can be admired HERE. While Greg has a bigger unit, I own two small units and am not entirely sure whether to combine them into one large unit or keep them separate. The banner is missing since I am loathe to do one freehand. Grim Forge miniatures do a set of all the flags for the old DoW range and I am going to order those and stick them on as soon as they come in.

There's not that much in the way of counting points since 12 x 5 points is 60 for the tally.

I am trying to get at least 1 30K post done for next week for another "I am Gregariuspost" and to save my honour in the 30K duel.

Cheers Sander

A cool part of the Challenge is seeing what & how other people are painting and I love that Sander and GregB can share and admire each others painting projects. Inspiration  and motivation comes from so many different places and isn't it great that in this space we can be each others cheerleaders and friendly rivals.

When you get the banners from Grim Forge, you'll have to put up a photo for us all to admire :)

Add another 60pts to your scoreboard

Well Done!

From Millsy: The Last (Almost) of the Kruleboyz (62 points)

G'day All,

This is my penultimate Kruleboyz post for this Challenge. There's one monster left which couldn't be finished to make in into this post so it'll appear sometime before the end of the Challenge instead. Just TWO more of these crazy yellow shields to go thankfully...

Shaman Muranduh!

I have still managed to finish the final ten Gutrippaz though, bringing the total to thirty which is a decent chunk of core troops. There's also a Shaman and Pot Grot offsider to add a magical/mystical flavour to the swamp. Goodness knows what goes into the pot given the colour, but I'm 99% certain it's not blueberries.

The tally...

  • 11 x 28mm infantry = 55 points
  • 1 x 40mm infantry = 7 points

Total = 62 points.

Honestly, I know nothing of the Kruleboyz but I do appreciate their skillz in accessorizing! I like all the bits&bobs of the Shaman and the Pot Grot dude is prepared for anything
Be strong Millsy, you CAN paint two more yellow shields  and beautifully too :)
