From AlanD - 28mm Mounted Picts (88 Points)

For something a bit different, I finished my week of painting with these 8 mounted Picts from Westwind. It's been a while since I tried freehanding Celtic or Pictish shields, and most of these didn't come out too well, although I am pretty pleased with the boar design on one of the shields.

These Picts are meant to be fifth-sixth century, so I gave them woad body art.

These should give me 80 points, and help me close the gap a little on the indefatigable Tamsin! Oh, and apologies for the crappy photos.

From Curt:Wonderful work Dux! The Boar design on the shield is indeed a wonderful piece of craftsmanship - well done (and the others are no slouches either I must say)! This entry will nudge you right behind your rival Tamsin. A great effort this week with some amazing top drawer miniatures. Well done!

  2. Very nice looking! You're right, that boar shield is something to be proud of. The snake looks good as well.

You are close to Tamsin, but I think she's got a big one planned for Saturday :)

  6. Nice work. If you are going to have a shield have a patterned one I say. Not just the boar and the serpent (sounds better than snake sorry Anne) but them all. Great additions.
