Adam does't seem to be literally snow bound like Miles, so is resorting to virtually winter in Frostgrave again.
Giant Ice spiders are a common creature in Frostgrave and they sort of show how horrible a place it is... not only do you have the undead, trolls, traps and other war bands to contend with but these giant 8 legged nastiest too.
I used light blue, then a wash and some dark blue for highlights note the eyes circling the head
The fangs are the only part I don't really like but I can't come up with a better look for them. This is Reaper Bones figure. That's two more Frostgrave figures for 10 more Points.
I do like these mice Adam. Your Templar has a steely determined air to him, like he absolutely must get that cheese. Great work on the armour. And that is an evil looking blue spider. Well done on both figures for 10 points.
Oooh he's very nice!I also have a soft spot for spiders. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nasty looking beastie
ReplyDeleteLove the mouse! Nice spider too :)
ReplyDeleteCool stuff Adam, especially the ice spider. I really like that blue.
ReplyDeleteReally love the mouse, looks really great, very much reminds me of the voyage of the dawn treader
ReplyDeleteThanks and you are right he does bring Reepicheep to mind even if he was a swashbuckling fellow not an armored knight
DeleteThe mice knight are really cool - I even called my wife over and she deemed him "cute" - high praise indeed! Sadly, the spider got the standard "ugh" she associates with all things wargaming. Batting .500 isn't so bad!
ReplyDeleteIf I get 50% female approval I came doing well :)
DeleteI love spiders so you're getting 100% from this female.
DeleteI always like your Dark Sword figures Adam. I don't think I've seen anyone do an Ice Spider before. Brilliant idea for Frostgrave and well painted.
ReplyDeleteThe mousling is really cool, with your rodent adventurers, I'm reminded of the Redwall Chronicles and Martin the Mouse! My kids loved those stories.
ReplyDeleteIt's bad enough for crunchy spiders in warmer climes, but now you risk finding them in a blizzard!? Great blue on him though, I'd try some fine line ink or blue wash on the fangs if you still dislike them. It'll still keep him icy looking and make them look interesting...if you DO like looking at spider mandibles that is! ;)
Redwall is the reason I got these Critter Kingdoms guys. The blue ink is a worth while suggestion.
DeleteThat is an awesome Mouse Warrior Adam. Of the spider I will speak no more. (Hides eyes, and lifts feet)
ReplyDeleteYou might see more spiders.
DeleteI am still laughing at the ear armour on the Templar! Now that is funny. The Ice spider is cool (Pun intended) but the Mouse Templar just rocks!
ReplyDeleteThe ears are a little funny looks a little Mickey Mouse or he woudl if he didn't look like he would cut you for saying that.
DeleteLove the ear armour!
ReplyDeleteNice one!
ReplyDeleteNice work! Love the mouse sculpt!
ReplyDeleteDark Sword Makes great figures all around.
DeleteI like the blue you achieved and that spider is very creepy. The fangs strike me as being the hairy kind so the sculpt did not help you there. I'm not sure what else you could do.
ReplyDeleteThats sort of what I was thinking
DeleteMore super Frostgrave miniatures Adam.
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteYep that spiders creepy
ReplyDeleteIan
Thank you.
