So now that I have got the painting mania out of my system, for the moment, I'm back to painting at my usual rate.
These are German Red Sailors from Tsuba Miniatures and comprise a command squad and an assualt squad, I have another HMG to complete.
The sculpts are by Paul Hicks and and utterly brilliant and I hope that I have done them justice. I do have a problem with the way he does eyes but it's a minor gripe.
They will form part of my German intervention force for my VBCW collection.
Oh i really like the crouching figures here Martin - can just see them sneaking up on some little village green in merry old England. You so need to up your target!
Spartakists, unless I'm mistaken! I wonder whose side they'll be intervening on in the VBCW?
ReplyDeleteExcellent work!
Cheers. They are supposed to be be communists but I think they will be on the fascist side, I have enough for a full German force now
DeleteA very nice change of pace and colour Martin. Congrats on busting through the 1000 point barrier so early :)
ReplyDeleteHere, have this drink - you clearly need it! **watches Martin guzzle down the brew and counts to ten - 1, 2, 3, 4...^thunk^...good, that should slow him down and let everyone catch up**
Nurse Docherty - are you thinking what I'm thinking? With a little judicious conversion work on the headgear and removal of cutlasses, these could be used as cops in our Mob Wars projects ;)
Yes...the thought had occurred...
DeleteThey should be a fairly easy conversion, they are pretty cheap direct from Markus and there is another pack too choose
DeleteBeer would be good
DeleteVery nice work and congrats on breaking the 1K barrier
ReplyDeletecheers
DeleteNice work Martin you realy are setting the pace. You did a great job on the faces of these guys I can see a 5 o'Clock shados on several and the mustashes look great as well.
ReplyDeleteCheers, couple of the eyes not right but overall happy with them
Deletethe eyes look good.. oh and feel free to take a day or two off :)
DeleteVery nice work on a very original theme :) Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThanks, not a period I know much about but it appears interesting
DeleteWell done and congrats on the 1K barrier, some of us will never get there. I like the crouching guy with the MG. now slow down and quit making us look bad.
ReplyDeleteCheers, PD
Cheers and no, play harder
DeleteI like this attitude :) Expect some more competition from me soon.. well.. soon as I finish a piece I have been working on :)
DeleteGood, have 2 more armies to paint!!!
Deleteexcellent stuff, looks like mini-operation sea lion was something of a success!
ReplyDeleteTa, I do have visions of a night landing to come to the aid of Evil Lord Percy
DeleteThese are terrific. I can see them landing on my doorstep with a note saying paint me now!
ReplyDeleteTa, I can highly recommend them and the other figures in the range
DeleteGreat work Martin! Love that your pushing the rest of us to go harder in the painting ( and batch painting at that! ). Expect some larger drops from me soon ;) Maybe.. :D
ReplyDeleteTa, I appear to found a competitive streak
ReplyDeleteNice figures. I like the basing you've done. I see what you mean about the eyes, the space merchant I did had something sculpted near his eyes, but I couldn't tell if they were lower lids or eyeballs. I figured it gave me a reason to not paint the eyes.
ReplyDeleteTa, think he does his eyes are just to be shaded and give them the tired look.
DeleteTerrific work Martin, not only on quantity but quality as well. I've never heard of either the company nor range they come from, but your paint-jobs have made them strangely alluring to my lead mountain ;-)
ReplyDeleteI strongly recommend having a look, no superheroes but some very cool figs. Go direct though not via Empress (about 1/3 cheaper)

ReplyDeleteGreat work Martin. I love the MG gunner in particular. Very cool figures.
ReplyDeleteta, me too
DeleteGreat work, Martin! Prodigious output from you this year and quality is not an issue, they look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteYOWZA! You are on a painting streak Martin and these are very well done. Lots of character in these.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying watching you guys compete for first place!
Thanks, missing your art deliciousness though
DeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteta
DeleteHa! I've been humbugged! I have these very same figures in the queue. (Moving them to the back.) Well done Martin - I like your rocky groundwork.
ReplyDeleteThe bug on your painting table was good value then:). They are great figs aren't they. I have a few more to submit
DeleteVery nice painting work. These figures are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteCheers
DeleteThese are really great. Super idea to use them in VBCW. Thanks for letting us know about this range of figures.
ReplyDeleteCheers, new to me as well
DeleteBlimey Martin!!! Do you sleep??
ReplyDeleteSleep is not the problem, getting up however.... No painting done today
DeleteNice work Martin!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Cheers
DeleteTsuba has some great sculpts, I really must buy some for, something I guess. I really like the contrast between the blue uniforms and the ground work. These will really stand out on a table with more traditional units.
ReplyDelete1000 points in 17 days is dangerous territory sir. I know someone else who painted like that last year and he's still regretting it every time he hears the work GIMP...
ReplyDeleteYup! I just checked the Challenge archives and you, Mr. Mills, pegged a little over 1300 points in 26 days. There's a target for you Martin! By your pace so far it shouldn't be too much of a problem. ;)
DeleteI'm not sure I should thank you for that Curt. He'll likely slack off and leave me with it.
DeleteHmmm. Did I just hear a gauntlet drop?
DeleteDoddle
DeleteNice work Martin! And a tremendous painting pace as well!
ReplyDeleteta
DeleteLots of character in these guys. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteta
DeleteNice basing, and I like the guy with the belt-fed weapon!
ReplyDeletethanks, he is a great figure
DeleteThose are some really nice figures. Hat waver is my fav. You don't see that too often. Very nice work champ. Cheers
ReplyDeleteCheers
DeleteYep the crouching figures really work, really nice work
