From MartinC - German Sailors (45 points)

"Won't somebody stop that man!"  - not content with parking his Impi on MichaelA's lawn , and raising the undead , Martin crashes through his first 1000pts on day 17!

So now that I have got the painting mania out of my system, for the moment, I'm back to painting at my usual rate.
These are German Red Sailors from Tsuba Miniatures and comprise a command squad and an assualt squad, I have another HMG to complete.

The sculpts are by Paul Hicks and and utterly brilliant and I hope that I have done them justice. I do have a problem with the way he does eyes but it's a minor gripe.
They will form part of my German intervention force for my VBCW collection.

Oh i really like the crouching figures here Martin - can just see them sneaking up on some little village green in merry old England.  You so need to up your target!

  1. Spartakists, unless I'm mistaken! I wonder whose side they'll be intervening on in the VBCW?

    Excellent work!

    1. Cheers. They are supposed to be be communists but I think they will be on the fascist side, I have enough for a full German force now

  2. A very nice change of pace and colour Martin. Congrats on busting through the 1000 point barrier so early :)

Here, have this drink - you clearly need it! **watches Martin guzzle down the brew and counts to ten - 1, 2, 3, 4...^thunk^...good, that should slow him down and let everyone catch up**

Nurse Docherty - are you thinking what I'm thinking? With a little judicious conversion work on the headgear and removal of cutlasses, these could be used as cops in our Mob Wars projects ;)

    2. They should be a fairly easy conversion, they are pretty cheap direct from Markus and there is another pack too choose

  11. Nice figures. I like the basing you've done. I see what you mean about the eyes, the space merchant I did had something sculpted near his eyes, but I couldn't tell if they were lower lids or eyeballs. I figured it gave me a reason to not paint the eyes.

    1. Ta, think he does his eyes are just to be shaded and give them the tired look.

  12. Terrific work Martin, not only on quantity but quality as well. I've never heard of either the company nor range they come from, but your paint-jobs have made them strangely alluring to my lead mountain ;-)

    1. I strongly recommend having a look, no superheroes but some very cool figs. Go direct though not via Empress (about 1/3 cheaper)

  21. Tsuba has some great sculpts, I really must buy some for, something I guess. I really like the contrast between the blue uniforms and the ground work. These will really stand out on a table with more traditional units.

  22. 1000 points in 17 days is dangerous territory sir. I know someone else who painted like that last year and he's still regretting it every time he hears the work GIMP...

    1. Yup! I just checked the Challenge archives and you, Mr. Mills, pegged a little over 1300 points in 26 days. There's a target for you Martin! By your pace so far it shouldn't be too much of a problem. ;)

    2. I'm not sure I should thank you for that Curt. He'll likely slack off and leave me with it.
