The Votes Are In for the 'Nautical' Bonus Round!

The image above pretty much sums up this theme round. It was yardarm to yardarm broadsides across the field of participants. This was one of the most popular theme rounds, both in submissions and voting. It also produced THREE TIES. Yep, you read it right folks, every podium position was tied, and we were actually very close to having three challengers contesting a placement in several cases. I love results like these as it shows that there were A LOT of crowd-pleasing entries and it also gives me the opportunity to splash out the bonus points to more people.

Alright, on to the placements. For runners up we had Sidney's portly but charming 'De Pelikaan, 1688'

And Evan's marvelously bent 'Chaos Dwarf Admiral'

Moving on to the top three positions, in Third Place we have Jeremy's shield festooned 'Viking Longship' and Tamsin's shot at Ray's simian nature with her 'What Shall we do with the Drunken Pirate'.

Jeremy and Tamsin will each get 25 points added to their totals. Lovely work and well done you two!

In Second Place we have Millsy's sprightly freighter 'Jennifer Dee, Steamy Tramp' and Byron's wonderfully rigged '1/1200 Napoleonic Ships-of-the-Line'.

Millsy and Byron will both receive 50 bonus points for their fine work. Congratulations to you both!

And again, with yet another tie, in First Place we are treated with Michael's wonderfully  Vernesque 'Unleash the Clocktopus' and Miles' amazing build of the (HUGE) '28mm USS Wasp'.

Wow! Gorgeous entries, both of you. Miles and Michael will both be awarded 75 bonus points for their excellent work. In addition, Miles will receive a gift certificate from Alf over at Barrage Miniatures and Michael will get a certificate from our own fine bookseller Edwin, at his 'Diplomatist Books'.

Congratulations to all the podium finishers and thank you to all the participants for providing us such a wonderfully entertaining theme round. Bravo!

For those who wish to see the voting results they can be found here.

Okay, next week is 'Gambler/Risk-Taker'. It's the last bonus round and it is also the overarching them for this edition of the Challenge, so I hope to see some great parting volleys for this one.

Have a good one!

  11. "I'd like to thank the academy and all the little people who crew my ships"

I'm very surprised to be in first and thought this round had some fantastic entries. Now back to the drawing board or ummm painting bench for the gambler entry.

  13. I think Dave chose the right word - 'epic'. There were so many fantastic entries it was a real eye-pleaser - and a vindication of the hard work done by the Snowlord and his Minions.

All the podium placers deserved to be there - and it's no surprise that it's a bid crowded up there!

I can't believe I did this well especially with all those really great scratch built examples out there, I can't imagine the time and effort it took to build those.
