As the first entry for my '80s Pulp Project, I hereby present my Policemen and woman. Since I plan to play a lot of small story-driven skirmish games, I needed some cops. Some of the best available police figures must surely be the new ones from Cooked Dice, so I picked some up at the Crisis in Antwerp.
The blue uniformed policemen as well as the State Trooper on the right are metal CD miniatures. The figure on the left has a commercially unavailable head, his name is Fred, more on him later on in the Challenge...The State Trooper on the left is a Warlord Games survivor plastic figure with a CD head.
All the uniforms are a fictional combination of US police uniforms I stole off the net. My favourites must be the State Troopers, the blue accents were really fun to paint. What does bother me is that I seem to be unable to find a black-and-white or two over here. All toy cars here are based on European types...
Another small entry for this Friday's minions to put up. I am currently painting some Dark Ages figures and am toying with the idea of turning them into a small pointbomb, we'll see ;-)
Cheers Sander
Regular Challenge-watchers will know that I love me some Pulpy Goodness! And these lawmen fit the bill nicely, that blue on the uniforms really pops, and nicely ties in with the accents on the state troopers. You definitely need to get these guys some wheels though - perhaps one of out Stateside Challengers might be able to help? Where's this project going to go next? Who is the cryptic Fred? Wow, I;m on tenterhooks, look forward to hearing more!
A neat 25 points to you.
Phil
There used to be a very nice die cast black and white looking suitably dusty/battered available in England and linked to "The Blues Brothers". I was tempted but had no use when i saw it. Whether it's still around I don't know but it would have fitted with 28mm. Perhaps someone will remember the car i mean.

ReplyDeleteThey'll come in very useful I'm sure!
Thanks Paul, they are all Valejo colours I used.
DeleteGreat looking figs Sander. I love the Smokeys with the blue accents.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, I take that "Smokeys" means State Troopers? Where does the nickname come from?
DeleteIt's trucker slang as featured in the 1970s song "Convoy". The Stetson hats look like the one Smokey the Bear wears.
Deleteah thanks for clearing that up!
DeleteNice work Sander!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rod!
DeleteCracking start Sander! I really like the crooked dice figures and you've done a really nice job on these.
ReplyDeleteYes CD make brilliant stuff, a lot more of their miniatures will pop up during my Challenge entries in the future. I am also thinking of obtaining some of their coppers with long-arms and perhaps riot-gear.
DeleteExcellent US police, they will be very useful in all sorts of games, I am sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael, they will be!
Delete@Phil: you will hear more from Fred and his brothers in the rest of the "80's Pulp Project" series, but since I've only started, I will not yet disclose where it's going to...
