Here we have ten French/Swiss crossbow men, together with ten I painted a year ago . I realised that I needed to add some 16th century metal Perry heads to these figures, simpler then landsknechts!
I have changed how I have done the bases following on from the last post and I think they are more succesful.
So that is 10 x28mm figures, 50 points towards my total and my renaissance side duel with Curt.
All the best
Iain
One of my favorite things about the challenge is the reminders of projects I want to do. Italian Wars are definitely high on the list. Admittedly mine are GW Empire and not Perry Italian War sculpts, but if you squint just right....
I do like the mixture of costume and the color combination, it also appears they are about to let loose then retire behind the waiting pike."Never attempt to win by force what can be won by deception"-but if that fails-"If you need to injure someone,do it in such a way that you do not have to fear their vengence" two apt quotes from Machiavelli that should be mantras for skirmishers! ;)
50 points well earned!
Welcome to the Painting Challenge. Here you will find the fabulous, fevered work of miniature painters from around the world. While participants come from every ethnicity, gender, age and nationality, they have three things in common: they love miniatures, they enjoy a supportive community, and they want to set themselves against the Challenge. This site features the current year's event along with the archives of past Painting Challenges. Enjoy your visit and remember to come back soon.

DeleteVery nice work on these xbowmen.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter
DeleteIf money and time were less of an object I would love to do some Italian wars.
ReplyDeleteAren't they BRILLIANT!
Since when did time and money influence our choices as wargamers?! Plastic Perry figures and warlord have got pro glorias plastic landsknechts and it's a great period thanks Clint.
DeleteThe Renaissance is a wonderfully colourful period, and these are no exception. Excellent work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Evan, yes it's a colourful period!
DeleteNice work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rod.
DeleteVery sharp looking indeed.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jamie
DeleteAh - Italian Wars, another wistful period I would like to visit, but am always a little too intimidated to try out. Great work!
ReplyDeleteI can't see you would have any problem whatsoever painting Italian wars, thanks Greg
DeleteVery colourful - would hate to be on the receiving end when they let fly!
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, cheers Padre.
DeleteGreat work Iain! It seems EVERYTHING is simpler than Landsknechtes. ;) I've worked on these Perry figures and they are great fun to work on. Well done! (As I trail further to the rear...)
ReplyDeleteThanks Curt yes, I think these are the best plastic figures I've worked on, there is so much variety and that's without the addition of the metal heads. Don't think I'm falling for the trailing to the rear trick!
ReplyDeleteI agree that this range of Perry plastics is the bomb. Best of all ou can mix and match with the other boxes like the light cavalry box. And don't believe Campbell, he's sandbagging!
DeleteC'est moi?! Oh wait, I guess you should know from last year's gambit... ;)
DeleteI chalk it up as a learning experience....
DeleteVery nice, love the colour in these.
