In this post I am continuing to make progress with my Khwarazmian Army for Basic Impetus by finishing off the Light Cavalry bases required. I have based these 2 figures to a base as in the army list they are not the same quality as the earlier Turkoman bases I posted.
I have painted more bases than required for the basic Impetus list, but it gives me the option to swap some Medium Cavalry for more Light Cavalry. Not sure they will hold up against the Mongols Light Cavalry on their own, but they say quantity has its own quality.
8 x 28mm Mounted Figures @ 10 points each = 80 points total
IMHO Matt, if you are fielding a horse nomad army you can never have enough light cavalry. Facing the Mongols is tough ask for any troops, so best go with quantity. It also seems to me that many commanders over history have bewailed the fact that they lacked enough cavalry to scout with.
Your horse archers look excellent. I really like the bases which give a great impression of wide open Steppe land.
Nice painting - love the basing!

Lovely Work!
ReplyDeleteI like the high "base to miniature ratio". It feels more like a diorama than a playing unit. Very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteLove those horse archers and the basing is excellent.
ReplyDeleteNo you can't have to many,oh and your horse archers look splendid, set off nicely with your very effective basing!

Nice light horse, Matt! :)
ReplyDeleteNever can have enough Calvary there! Great job!
ReplyDeleteReally nice work, Matt! They are spiffy looking in varied colors. I like the minimal units on those big bases. They really capture the feel of light cav/ scouts.
ReplyDeleteLovely figures those large bases really give them a light Cavalry feel.

Genghis Khan would say 'no'. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on these cavalry skirmishers. Terrific basing too.
Of course you can’t and these are a very worthy addition to your army!
