From KentG - 28m Barons wars French & peasants (pts280)

This week I decided to start my wargames Atlantic
Barons wars starter box, I have painted a heap of these figures
for the company and was lucky enough to have this sent to me
by Andy hobday end of last year. There's a few more foot knights
to do and the market stalls, but I almost completed it in a weeks
which was a bit crazy, probably would have
if I hadn't done the two extra mounted knights

I really like these figures which is why I bought the mounted
knights and Sergeants for Christmas they are a pleasure to paint

I painted these up as French from the first Barons wars French invasion
the blue knight is Etiene de Sancerre the red knight is Thomas de
Coucy and the foot knight is Michel De Harnes
and the white knight is Hughes de Miraumout.

The banner here I quickly made at the last moment when I realized
I had used it on the knight above

I added a few heads from their dark age Irish set
just for fun I also did a bit of cutting and chopping of a few figures
I also changed a few bits from the mounted set

I already have a couple of boxes of peasants but I made them all
archers so thought I better add to the rabble,
might even still have another box in the cupboard,
once again swapped a few heads out

I love painting mounted figures always have and this
figure even though simple is one of my favorite things painted this week
the silver just pops on the helmet, and the blue finally came together.

This chap scared me I have avoided this pattern for so long
I knew it would be hard and it really was, took me hours to layer
it up, it's not my finest work but when I put him down on the table
and I thought yes it works

Next week back to the Samurai we go

The points

52 28mm foot @ 5pts each 260 pts
2 x 28mm mounted @ 10pts each 20 Pts

Total @280 pts

From Millsy:

Wow, just wow. Another cracking bunch of heraldry mate! I understand now what you meant when you were speaking about the repetitive pattern on that last night. I'm not sure he's repaid your effort in advancing your point total but he's certainly gorgeous!

Everything else is also pretty cool. I particularly like the clean highlights on the blue knight's barding. There's a real sense of motion there.

Well done indeed. 280 points it is!

PS. If I have to add you handle to the labels one more time I'm going to start deducting points! It's almost like you don't want your work found. :-P

Cheers,
Millsy
