Another busy week, being retired is hectic and this week is busier. I say busy but it is 2 days of work, 4 days of family and gaming and 1 day of rest.
Straight on to it
Next up another Bavarian battalion, the 7th. These didn't fight in 1812 but who can resist pink facings. As this is a firing line it has fewer figures than a marching unit, simply due to firing figures taking up more space
Scores on the doors
Amazons 16x5 = 80
Bavarians 15x5 =75
1 x 10 =10
Dynamite gun 4x5 =20 plus another 5 for the gun as it's very simple =25
Total = 190pts
You know I don't know what I'd do with my Tuesdays if I didn't have Martin's completely random posts to minion. Today he got me down a dynamite gun rabbit hole trying to find out more about that weapon. I was aware of the completely useless dynamite cruiser USS Vesuvius used during the Spanish American War, but wasn't aware that the US Army also used these oddities. As you say not a wonderful casting but it painted up well.
Love the Cheyenne team, but if they''ve already got broken bits I don't fancy their odds on the pitch. Also nice to see more Bavarians, I agree with the pink facings comment especially with cornflower blue. I'm giving you the full 10 points for the gun and 2 for the flag.

Nice random assortment of themes. Thanks for introducing me to the dynamite gun as well.

DeleteFabulous work all around, Martin, but my faves are the Bavarians. Pink and blue is a great combination for a uniform.
ReplyDeleteMe too, thanks
DeleteCracking madness
ReplyDeleteWe've met
DeleteNice mix Martin, well painted as usual, I would have expected a dynamite gun to blow up in the gunners' faces!
ReplyDeleteTa, actually a smokeless gun. Not very accurate but hard to spot
DeleteThose Bavarian infantry are smashing while the tiger miniatures are suitably gritty, I have met the man behind the figures at the battleground show in Stockton on tees and he is very committed to these obscure ranges. Having embraced injection plastics I have learned to love any figure for what they are - a sculptors interpretation. I hope you enjoy playing with them and maybe they grow on you. As you say though beggars can’t be choosers
ReplyDeleteI was at the battleground show running the 10mm barbarossa game. I actually have a fair few Tiger Miniatures figures, particularly some Turkish cavalry. I like the obscurity of his range. They aren't terrible figures, just a bit chunky and where else can you get a dynamite gun
DeleteGreat work all around - really like the Colonial era Americans and the artillery piece. Sounds like it would be a great period to war-game. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteCheers, the gun has been co-opted into the back of beyond campaign
DeleteAnother win for Team Retired !
ReplyDeleteThe bestest team
DeleteGreat work Martin. Very diverse and interesting. What’s the next BB team?
ReplyDeleteCheers, I have some top up figures to paint including a wood elf stripper
DeleteGreat variety!
ReplyDeleteCheers
DeleteLovely work Martin! And as ever, my favourites clearly are your Bavarians there. Excellent work on all the straps and what not. Though I‘ve to say the blue/ pink colour combo was a somewhat questionable sartorial choice by my forefathers
ReplyDeleteCheers, I think it displays confidence in their masculinity, of they are playing golf later
