Another Fine Weekend Looms

Another fun Friday, with lots of great stuff lined up - WW2 Pacific troops, some great sci-fi stuff, Saxon cavalry, all waiting for your viewing enjoyment and commentary throughout the day. After a week watching my beloved Winnipeg Jets continuing to go down in flames I'm looking forward to seeing some great postings from the Friday team!

  1. It's a shame that the Jets are not doing too well. Seems the air defence of other teams is too efficient :) Still would be nice to see them do well, they do hold a special place in my heart due to them being the first team of my childhood hero Selänne. He was starting there when I was first starting my (slightly less glorious) hockey career.

    1. There is another talented young Finnish player, Joel Armia, starting to have an impact on our team (scored twice last night against Dallas).

    2. Yeah he seems to be off to a decent start. He's bit of an unknown here as he hasn't really had a spot in the national team and it's been a while since he played in the national league as well. Hopefully he'll start to get more ice time in the NHL in the future.

    3. Another bright side - if the Jets keep sucking at the rate we are sucking right now, we could place high in the draft, and maybe get Patrik Laine or Jesse Puljujarvi...that would be awesome!

    4. Luckily there's another Finn in the team as Puljujärvi needs an interpreter :D Apparently quitting school at around 14 to focus on ice hockey doesn't improve your english skills too much...

  2. You may be suffering Greg but not as much as me being a Habs fan. Now that is called a flame out!

    1. Yes, that's been something to see...our GM is not very good, but the combo of Bergevin and Therrien seems awful...

    2. Somehow it seems that the Habs always seem to under perform nowadays

    3. It seems to me that all the Canadian teams are going down in flames. Including the Flames.

  3. I feel the same way about the Sharks. It's almost making me feel like a Cubs fan as they always choke in the Stanley Cup.
Yes I know, Michigan guy cheering for a California team, but I refuse to cheer for the Original teams and the SJ Sharks were founded with a lot of Michigan State and U players...plus torqouise is a good color and their logo is pretty sharp. ;)

  4. We don't get a lot of ice hockey down here in Australia, as it's hard to stop the ice rinks from turning into swimming pools.
