Here we have 6 large stands of Beja , one "ambush " stand breaking out the long grass plus one of Nile tribe rifleman.
These lads are a mix of Perry plastics with metal command and casuality figures plus two old school Connoisseur single figures for the Emir and solo standard bearer. This completes the last of the 20 boxes of Perry Mahdist infantry (well it will with todays other posts) - and also completes the target of 1000 foot 28mm figures in the army - there is a very big game in the offing.
Having done so many of these over the last few years I find it takes longer to de-sprue , assemble and base the blighters than it does to paint them.
For this lot I have also moved over to "large" 200x60mm bases as produced by that other megalomaniac Simon Miller (Big Reg Bat) . Experience from running some large participation games is its quicker and easier to move large bases - and quicker to pack up too!
Alogether its 140 figures with 1/2 point for the prone casualties it counts as124 full figures
MilesR: Another huge points bomb for this Monday - 124 figures is a massive achievement and all very nicely done. I tip my hat to you Sir. Since Tamsin's Nubians put me in a generous mood I'm throwing in another 5 points for the banners and superb basing, bringing you to a totals of 625 - wow!!!! I may have to try some of Mr Millers bases.
You must be planning a very epic game...
FFS. bleeding marvellous
ReplyDeletecheers.... not many more to do ...
DeleteUnbelievable are you sure you don't have some magic painting house elves or something? I hope the generous spirit of extra points is still in effect when we get to my entry Miles.
ReplyDeleteHa .. I wish! Just old fashioned hard work... I did do some work on these these on day 1 mind
DeleteExcellent and unhurried work! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteThey look outstanding! The big bases are very intimidating. I am going to borrow your idea of using Simon Millers irregular bases. Keep up the great work
ReplyDeleteThanks. Indeed the big bases do allow for some real creativity

ReplyDeleteThanks Paul..
DeleteI think there must be a mistake.... these must be 6mm, right? There's no way I could get anywhere near painting this many to this standard at this speed in 28mm! I doff my cap to you sir for doing just that.
ReplyDelete6mm.. oh aged no they would take easily as long!
DeleteWhat was that crashing noise? Oh it's just Dave giving us some great eye candy............again
ReplyDeleteIan
Well yes I think that may the biggest one up my sleeve,,

Astounding stuff, mate, well done!
I do have access to some very large tables... hence the need to fill them!
DeleteThanks Ev
Wow that is a huge entry Dave! Not quite sure how you manage that much at once, but they look very impressive when assembled like that. And I think that many may sound a bit more like a train.... but that was last year, wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteByron ... the train may be along later!
DeleteAwesome stuff Dave. Quantity and quality painting combined!!
ReplyDeletethanks matey
