So who better to transport us away from the Armoury and the might of Cold War Russia than that most famous Slavic witch and practitioner of cartomancy -- Baba Yaga!
This is clearly not Baba in her "old crone" disguise -- maybe this is a glamour but she certainly looks the part and I did my best to dress her appropriately, down to her Louboutin heels and her summery daisy pattern skirt. Once again this is a Black Rose Wars 38mm figure -- in this case one of the principal characters that you play in the game.
It's a good scuplt in concept let down by a) some weak design elements (especially the hands), b) a generally "soft" cast, especially on elements like the jewelry and c) challenges in construction and casting -- a fair amount of filler was needed again around the shoulder girdle area. Her hut is a very nice model however!
Once again I enjoyed trying out a mix of "realistic" and "magical" effects on this one and it came together pretty well I think. It's all traditional Citadel paints, washes and very limited highlighting. For once this is a case where my "excess of eyeliner" eyes are apposite -- plus I even gave her a bit of extra eye makeup!
I think that makes another 27 points -- 20 for a Sarah transport and 7 for the figure plus whatever bonus might accrue for this being a bona fide witch!
What a great looking witch! Love the moving house! The modeling might be dodgy but she looks ace!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain. I’ve always worried that it might be a bit of a bumpy ride however 😝
DeleteSuperb!! I absolutely love this model and what you've done with it, particularly her face and the pattern on her dress. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Curt that’s most kind. I was worried about the face but seemed that “less is more” worked out well and I’ll certainly remember to outline lips in black in the future as this really seems to make them pop!
DeleteWonderful work- the floral pattern dress is amazing. Quite frankly, I never imagined Baba Yaga to be so pretty....😁
ReplyDeleteIt takes some powerful magic to make her look that good! Thanks for the positive feedback, it’s fun to try out patterns you don’t otherwise use ... maybe I should do some samurai 😀
DeleteLovely take on Baba Yaga!
ReplyDeleteThanks Barks, I can’t wait to get her in the game
DeleteSplendid figure - beautifully painted. So many questions about the hut. How do you get in and out? What happens to the china when it hops? Where do you keep the grill? What happens when you let the dogs out? Is it on zillow and does the value change with its postcode? I think we should be told.
ReplyDeleteSo many questions 🤔 perhaps “it’s bigger on the inside” 🌌
DeleteGreat looking figure. It doesn't look like the most comfortable method of transport though.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stuart, Baba makes sure to keep the inertial dampers in good shape before she sets off 😉
DeleteNot your grandmothers Baba Yaga! Love the dress!
ReplyDeleteMore Devushka Yaga perhaps 😉 and thanks for the kind feedback on the dress Peter!
