From StephenS: Late Roman Archers (30 points)

G'day All,

It has been a little while since my last regular post, life and all that, but these little guys have been ready for the last few weeks.

Nothing too fancy, just six archers, plastic 28 mm figures from Victrix. I really like the miniatures they produce, the poses are great for individual basing. Though I have heard getting them to rank up on larger bases can be challenging.

All up, a tidy 30 points to tide me over until next week.

Cheers,

Stephen

From Millsy:

Good to see someone else knocking out some Late Romans, especially someone I game with. It seems to be a pretty common theme this year for some reason!

I've not got any Victrix stuff to date but it might be how I expand now. I very much like you tunic colour choice especially. I've been contemplating what to do with my next batch and this may be the way I decide to go based on how good these look. The red edging is a nice accent and your basing sets them off perfectly.

Great stuff all round and a sold 30 points added you tally. Nice work mate.

Cheers,
Millsy

  1. Nice work Stephen...curious about your experience with Victrix - do you find them to be really tall/large compared to other 28mm? I have been keen to give them a shot, but have held back based on concerns about how well they would mix.

    1. Thanks Greg! As to the size of the figures, they are taller than some of the older ranges I have, but I find they blend in with the Late Roman’s I have from Gripping Beast.

  2. A favourite period of mine - John julius Norwich Byzantine trilogy is my go to books to descend into the eastern themes ( get it:)) anyway these guys remind me of my osprey book which has lightly armed romans going raiding- you colour choices are spot on!

    1. A cracking author, his books on the Normans in Sicily were my first introduction to him.

    1. Thanks Peter, and I agree that Millsy needs some too. He just can’t put his more nicely painted versions anywhere near mine ;)
