Before I get to the photos I would like to echo all of the recognition that has been paid to Curt for the continued offering of such a wonderful opportunity to display and celebrate our hobby. Huge thanks also to all of the minions but for me particularly to Millsy and to Dave who covered for him on one posting period. Also a nod to the wonderful group who meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a chat and paint - it adds massively to my enjoyment and output.
Now to the colour and stats. Firstly a few 'grand' shots (which means you can see nothing closely).
| Neatly packed in their boxes - don't look like much do they? |
| Bit more impressive :) |
Over the course of the challenge I have painted the following units - these amount to 2951 infantry figures and 578 mounted figures.
And some closer shots of the various contingents. Firstly the Portuguese with the Cacadores in front of the Line infantry and cavalry behind.
Then the Spanish Infantry (Guards in front) followed by their cavalry and the British Cavalry at the rear.
And lastly the varied colours of the Confederation of the Rhine units with the French Cavalry at the rear.
I loved Paul's idea of a video so have given it a go and think it gets closer to many of the units and the colour of the Confederation.
This has been my third challenge - although the first was many years ago and I didn't make much of an impact. I've really enjoyed myself and have a real sense of achievement at getting these units painted - some of which have been in a box for close to 20 years. I still have a lot of 6mm Napoleonics to paint and refurbish - but this has greatly motivated me to keep going.
I've also put a reminder in my calendar for late November to make sure I do not miss the chance to sign up for the next installment.
Thanks everyone!

There's lot of painted minis and all for the same project. Congrats! See You in December!
ReplyDeleteThanks Teemu - December is a date!
DeleteVery impressive Richard, and very inspiring. Must get back to my own tiny chaps soon. See you in Challenge XVII!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. You know the joy the tiny chaps can give so get going.
DeleteSuch a pleasing mass of figures painted - well done Richard. Great focus on this project!
ReplyDeleteThanks Greg - I need the focus. I know that a lack of it leads to disaster for my painting output.
DeleteThat is an incredible amount of minis, Richard. Wowza! You definitely made the most of the Challenge this year. Fantastic work.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Curt for the challenge that you and Sarah give to us and for your comments throughout. Now the trick is to keep up regular painting, albeit at a slower pace.
DeleteVery impressive work at this tiny scale. I love this project.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Peter

ReplyDeleteThanks for your continued support Dave
DeleteWell done Richard, that's been a huge and fantastic effort - we all admire your discipline and I for one am envious of the spectacular and cinematic games that this result will allow you to play in the future
ReplyDeleteThank yo Kerry. I have to say that some of your Napoleonic games from years past have been a great inspiration to me and provide their own cinematic spectacle.

Thanks Matty - as you know they have been a long time coming.
DeleteVery impressive amount of 6mm glory on show! Over 2000pts of just 6mm. I'm mightily inspired for the next Challenge!
ReplyDeleteThank you - I hope you get stuck in to the stuff for December.
DeleteFantastic. The 6mm itch is starting again maybe next year
ReplyDeleteExcellent Ian. The more the merrier doing 6mm. Thanks for your comment.
DeleteWow, that is even more than I thought you'd painted!
ReplyDeleteThanks Barks and than you for your continued support through the Challenge.
DeleteA quite staggering display and especially so when one could get to see the detail you captured.
