Tuesday Terros at the Open Mic

 

So as I understand things, this is the last week of regular posting days and therefore the last time for the Tuesday terror to appear together.  It's been a pleasure to minion this group who have been highly productive, but also brought out some very high caliber work.  This week we expect the following acts

• JohnB brings us some trucking music (possibly two sets worth)
• MikeF brings us some heavy metal
• HarryV plays some songs of rebellion, while refusing a cup of tea
• Sylvain will play us haunting melodies of the Cruel Seas
• KenR will be yodelling again
• Raul brings a second set of sea shanties
• Dallas has some Death Metal
• MartinC buttons up his lederhosen again for more beerhall music
• Hopefully we will see BrianC's one-man band

And of course, I make a music pick.  The Jayhawks are a highly influential and respected band from Minneapolis that I've seen classified as Alt country, country rock, folk rock and Americana.  There's been multiple incarnations of the group with members leaving and rejoining, but this song is from the so called "classic line up period".  It ticks a lot of boxes for me, strong melody, melancholy lyrics, jangly guitars and great harmonies.  I've gone with another live Letterman video as always like to see how bands sound out of the studio.
