6mm Sci Fi Infantry Company ClintB (35 points)

Today some 1/300th scale (aka 6mm) Brigade Models LINK Science Fiction Chinese troops. Theoretically this is an infantry company but as I only have 4 figures to a base to me it feels more like a platoon.

Total of 9 vehicles and 34 infantry (command stand just has 2 infantry figures. Shown bottom right in first pic))

The Force is the CDSU (Chinese democratic Socialist Union) and as I will be using the Future War Commander rules they have a "Rigid" tactical Doctrine. (Which will make them a little restricting to play I hope).

The vehicles are all "Xie Fang" MICVs one is a specialist command vehicles the other 8 are more hover (craft) battle taxis.

Needles to say the world they will be fighting on will not be blessed with tropical or moderate conditions. I hope the force looks suitable for cold weather as that is my intention. Mostly I went for a frozen setting so I would not need to make any trees and veg when I make the terrain.

A very simple force easy to transport and store and I hope to fit this force and another (yet to be determined) in a single box file along with all the terrain. Just for Pick up and play at the club.

They will also be my first ever army in sci fi 1/300th scale, BUT not my only 1/300th scale army. They were part of my Crimbo Pressie from my sister on the big day and while I did ask for 6mm sci fi I had no idea what I would get if indeed anything so I am delighted to have gotten them finished so fast!

MilesR: Great looking future army there - nice cammo on the MICV's.  The fact that you got these mini's as a present makes them even better. I never get mini's as gifts so color me jealous

These little force will net you 35 points/

  1. Thank you Miles I am very luck that there is a game shop 2 towns away so I can scout out what they have and even write a list, but that seldom works... I usually get socks!

  2. Nice Work Clint. Normally I am not a big fan of SciFi ground combat because I figure most battles would end when the enemy fleet was defeated or killed your fleet and told your planetary governments to surrender or be nuked form orbit. But gaming future wars here on Earth... that sounds interesting.

    1. Thanks Adam. I do see your point and mostly agree with it. But one thing wargaming has taught me is that for ever tactic their is a countermeasure.

I am sure when people first saw tanks some said there is NO use for infantry any more. So far history has not proven them right!

  6. Very nice - and well done your sister on choosing so well, is she a wargamer (and therefore can understand the gibberish we speak to each other) or should I be even more impressed?

    1. Thank you Jamie. My sister and me get on well but NO she is not now nor ever has been a wargamer. She used to laugh at me for it! But as I said we do get on quite well.

    1. Thanks James the camo is easy to do. Overall white (base colour) then random squares (or rectangles) in blue and grey sometimes overlapping. Then weather wash on top and it is done. And Bob as they say is your mothers live in lover!

  11. Very cool stuff, Clint! I particularly like the ground effect vehicles. They have a very SW Imperial look about them.

    1. Thanks Curt. IF SW ever did hovercraft I imagine they would be HUGE possibly with hotels or even towns on them. But that aside I do take your meaning!

    1. Thanks Evan. I think 6mm figs are my favourite as the armies look real to a shooting scale. But I am currently painting some 28mm troops. Hope to have them finished by this time next week.

  16. Tiny figures, but I'm betting it took more than a tiny effort to get them looking that good! Well done Clint, they look great!

    1. Thanks Steve. Actually I find 6mm figures easy to paint, A good wash tends to do most of the work. then you just pick out the details. It is only when the wash goes badly you need to worry.

  18. Very interesting. Could be a platoon, but I suspect by that far into the future a platoon witll have the firepower of a 1990s armoured division.
Chinese rated as rigid? I would want to push back on that a bit, the PLA and PLN have come a long way from the Maoist hordes of the Korean War.

    1. Thank you Michael. You are right and no one knows what any force will be like in the future. But the rules I will be using identify them as being Rigid which means they will need to be in a tighter zone of control. ! thing I do know is that players will always try to play them the way that suits the player best.
