Yet another Friday, and the Friday Crew have prepared a full menu for us. With one third of the Challenge behind us, and the dreaded cut having done its grisly job, only the true diehards remain.
Today, we will look at Wrath.
Belgian Beer Culture had been designated as Unesco Cultural Heritage since 2016. Beer was brewed in what is now Belgium since Roman times. Originally, it was produced using gruit, a mix of herbs and spices; De Gruiter is still a common name in the Low Countries. From the 14th century however, in Burgundian times, hops has been used. Today, many different types of beer are being produced in Belgium, among which are various strong ales. Today I present you such a strong ale, Delirium Tremens.
Now on the subject of wrath, most of us will have had the experience of being thrown into a fit at some point. In some ways, unbounded anger resembles something of a delirium...
Another strong blond ale, with a spicy, dry-bitter taste. It has an alcohol percentage of 8,5%, so it is in fact rather strong. Like many Belgian beers, it has its own special glass. The little pink elephant has been there since 1989. It is produced by the brewery of Huyghe in Melle, where beer has been brewed since 1654. I quite like this one.
Today, we will have everything from Space Marines via Napoleonics to ancient Romans. So always drink responsably, and enjoy!
Martijn
