The Blitzkreig Germans are nearly done. This is a squad of veteran early war infantry, plus a supporting mortar team, ready to join the others for Operation Sealion. I have the campaign book and I think a couple of the local wargamers enjoy a bit of Bolt Action so these chaps might even see a battle in the next couple of months.
Their tailor had a problem with the bottle green collars and shoulder boards for their pre 1938 jackets. It kept coming out really shiny despite lashings of matt medium and a coat of mat varnish. He should have shaken his paint bottles harder and/or avoided adding Vallejo military green into the mix.
Otherwise they were fun to paint. I tried to make them a little more casual than the other squads with fewer wearing stahlhelms. I used oak leaves in the basing so the veteran squad is easier to identify on the table.
One more entry and the field grey can take a rest. Now for a bit of island exploring and the completion of a different project.
The squad are Warlord Games plastic. The mortar and crew are Warlord Games metal - slightly differently proportioned. Ten standing/kneeling, one artillery piece and 2 prone for a total of 70 points.
Nice work Pete :)
