Thor's Day at the Bus Stop

Another Thor's Day, another day at the Minion Office. Remember to keep the distance and nothing happens. :)
I guess the bus stop shelters are the same size in Finland as they are everywhere. But usually only two strangers can fit to a one shelter, one in each corner. The rest will be outside, spread evenly along the road. It is quite nice in the sunshine, but when it is raining, snowing, windy etc it might not feel that good - but if the option is to get close to another person, the solution is easy.

I remember my Dutch teacher telling a story when she moved to Finland from Curacao. She used to say hello when coming to a bus stop, but got no response and only stares... She soon learnt the proper way.

BUS STOP

Finns respect the privacy and personal space of others, and expect the same in return.

We tend not to sit down next to anyone if another seat is available. When talking to a Finn, don’t stand too close – unless you want to see a Finn slowly edging backwards.

----- End of a Finn talking about Finland -----

It seems to be a nice and easy Thor's Day today, I'm doing my best to get the posts spread out evenly during the day so no one will feel uncomfortable. We have at least half a dozen posts this week and a vaque promise on one...
  • MartijnN: Sex and drugs and rock'n'roll - or along those lines
  • MartinC: Monk and paladin and grenadiers - you get the idea
  • RayR: French and Haitian and Revolution - unsurprisingly
  • BruceR: Queen and spies and civil war - quite a mix
  • JamesM: Speed and skill and sheer psychotic flair - sound interesting
  • RayR: Pocahontas - really!
P.S. It has been just below zero here, but sun is shining, so it is rather nice.
P.P.S. Yesteray I had to travel by train and I had to take a bus to get to the train station. There were two of us at the bus stop, only one of us was standing in the shelter. I got up first and found myself a seat. The other guy took a good and long look, but I got the last seat where no one was sitting next to me. He took a long look around the bus and eventually uncomfortably sat next to a stranger. A True Story!

  1. Have a great day of it, Teemu! By your description above it's amazing that Finns somehow 'make' more Finns. ;)

    1. Well, we are a dying nation, only immigration keeps our population growing up. :)
