Argentine Dassault Mirage IIIeA
As part of my break last week from slogging through a Napoleonic painting commission I had a break and built and painted this old Frog 1/72 kit, straight out of the box only addition was a metal antenna for wargaming purposes and extra fins on the missile to make them closer to the Magic 550 missile the argentines used in the Falklands war. As it is a flying jet model it also received a wire through the fuselage for mounting on a flying stand. Quite happy with my results
20mm vehicle 15 points = 15 points

DeleteLovely plane, well done
ReplyDeletecheers Simon
DeleteNice post - is it plastic kit you make and paint up? Seems tight you only get 15 points for a great job that takes time to construct even before painting? Cheers Jez
ReplyDeleteI know, but we do it for the love not the points!

Great work and a cracking result. I do admire the skills and patience of air modellers.

DeleteI enjoy putting them together, but the filling and sanding is a real pain!

DeleteNice paint job. Glad those guys were operating at the outer limits of their range.
ReplyDeleteYes, they only had 6-12 minutes of flight time over the island, plus they could not carry the anti ship missile as the French technical staff had not completed the installation of the hardware (although the Israeli staff almost got it right in time). If they had been operating from Stanley airfield as proposed with the missiles working I think the aircraft carriers would of been in trouble and air superiority may of been achieved. But like most wars lots of possible and probable...
DeleteVery nice work!
