More troops for the Hundred Days collection with a Regiment of British Light Dragoons added. These are painted to represent the 12th (Prince of Wales's) Light Dragoons that were part of the 4th British Cavalry Brigade taking part in the Battle of Waterloo.
All the figures are plastic Perry Miniatures from the Napoleonic British Light Dragoons 1808-15 set.
Being plastics they are very easy to play around with too, as I had modelled this unit with their swords at the charge and I wanted to give some movement to the unit, so the Roan horse on this base was modelled overhanging it quite a bit.
Once you know how to assemble them correctly (the instructions are not good on carbine placement) they are a splendid set of figures that can be made as either the earlier uniform worn up to 1812 or the later uniform that you see here.
Ten 28mm mounted figures will add 100 points to my ongoing total.
28mm Napoleonics Duel Totalizer: 14 mounted, 3 foot
Nice work on these alight Dragoon’s Paul, always a nice uniform. I find the plastics fiddle to work with but agree the flexibility of the Perry boxes is fantastic. Love the nags too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, of all the plastics, I do prefer the Perry Miniatures ones
DeleteYour Napoleonic figs are always a joy
ReplyDeleteThank you Martin
DeleteFine brushwork as always Paul - these fellows look lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you Greg
DeleteWonderful painting of the horses.
ReplyDeleteCheers
DeleteGreat work on these, and its interesting to read how you added momentum with a simple placement of one overhanging pose. Super stuff.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom
DeleteThese look great - nicely done!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks
DeleteTerrific Light Dragoons Paul. I painted the Perry metal versions and found them oddly fiddly. Your's look brill.
ReplyDeleteThanks Curt, the Perry metals can be problematic, I find the plastics much more manageable.
DeleteLovely painting and great photography with the backdrop to perfectly showcase the figures. Cheers Jez
ReplyDeleteThanks Jez.
DeleteMy wife, Victoria, did the backdrop for me, I find it really helps set the scene.
Early uniform, late uniform... OK, I have to admit Naps all look the same to me (except for their fancy colours) but I can state with certainty that you've done a great job on these fine fellows.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIt is a very different uniform, the early tunic has much more braiding, leggings instead of overalls, and the early chaps have much better headgear with a Tarleton helmet instead of a shako.
Marvelous light cavalry, Paul, your brushwork is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stuart
DeleteVery nice work, Paul!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks

DeleteSplendid looking dragoons! Lovely finish as always!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain
DeleteQuality job on these, the plastic Perry's have definitely made 28mm naps more affordable.
ReplyDeleteRegards KenR
Cheers Ken, they certainly have, and easier on the brushes too.
DeleteThese look just wonderful Paul!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
