From TamsinP: 28mm Pulp (30 points)

For my 25th* and probably** final submission, here are some more pulp miniatures for your delectation.

* plus the five bonus round entries
** I have started on four more figures, but I'll be hard-pressed to finish them in time.

While I was painting these I kept thinking "that chap in shirtsleeves is more like a Bob Murch than a Dixon sculpt". So I checked and found I was right - I'd somehow switched figures between two groups in the drawer they were in. This is the one which should go with the other three:

which goes with these three from the Bonnie and Clyde & the Barrow Gang set from Dixon Miniatures.

The chap in shirtsleeves is from the Pulp Figures "Two Bit Hoods" pack:

And finally two chaps from Blue Moon's "Streets of Chicago" set:

There's something a bit peculiar about this pair - the hand of the chap smoking and the face of he fellow with the violin case, not to mention that beachball torso. Could they be aliens in disguise? Is that a probe in the violin case?

For scoring, that's six 28mm foot figures which will give me 30 points and bump me past 3400 points.

As this is likely to be my last entry, it's time for the votes of thanks.

*to Curt, our respected Snowlord, for once again putting in the effort to get this crazy quarter-year together; for being such a fab overlord of minions; for administering the whip and the bonus theme rounds; the list goes on.

*to our beloved Lady Sarah, for actually letting Curt do all of the above; for keeping him as sane as can be expected; for putting up with us schmucks once more; for judging the "Sarah's Choice" prize; and for not sending (competent) assassins after me for my "Lady Sarah" entry in the theme rounds.

*to Big Lee for all his good-humoured work as minion of the Tuesday Terrors. Given the volume of submissions from our crew and the size (points-wise) of most of them, he has had a lot of work to do. Luckily he has already lost most of his hair so didn't have much left to tear out. And having been exposed to Ray for so many years, he was already quite insane!

*to all the other minions for their efforts on behalf of the other days' crews.

*to Paul O'G for taking on the role of chief cat-herder, errmm, Duels Wallah. A mostly thankless task.

*to Miles, our resident mathemagician and Stats Wallah. That being said, I have missed the fortnightly stats posts this year, but do look forward to his final round-up in a few days time.

*to my fellow Challengers for keeping those brushes moving, the paints flowing, the bases flocking and the posts coming! In the past 24 hours we have beaten out joint target; I'm not certain, but that may be the first time it has happened - either we're getting better at estimating our outputs or there are as many under-estimating as there are over-estimating!
Not to mention the stunning and varied entries you have all submitted.

*to the sponsors for the generous prizes they have offered. I'm sure that we would all take part even without prizes, but they are nice to have!

Finally, an apology to Millsy - I'm terribly sorry, old chap, for not managing to post a piss-take this year and also for not (until now) uttering the immortal phrase "Millsy is a GIMP".

Ahh, a suitably terrific closing entry Tamsin. Your output, as is usual for your Challenges, was both frighteningly prolific and wonderfully inspiring. I think in the Pulp genre you've really found your muse as they, like these six above, were all superb in their brushwork, basing and overall composition. Bravo!

30 points will place safely over the 3400 mark. Amazing work Tamsin and thank you for all your help and support behind the scenes this year - it was very much appreciated.

- Curt

  3. @ Curt - thanks! Having time to focus on painting and to rest has definitely helped with my output this year. I've always enjoyed painting the pulp figures, and it seems that my painting style has finally begun to gel for 28mm figures; I think I had the flesh just about down a couple of years ago, but highlights on clothes, etc seem to have taken until now - I think it was working on all my WW2 Aussies that has helped there. Also having great sculpts as a canvas to work on, the Bob Murch ones in particular have so much character :)
As for the helping out, it's always a pleasure to muck in with minion duties!

    @ Peter D - cheers! I certainly wouldn't! :)

    @ Dave D - thanks! :)

    @ John M - cheers! :)

    @ Ray - cheers, m'dear! :)
